Oh, I got a game camera video of a doe with mastitis. I think. Her udder is way too big and kinda lumpy looking. I hope it gets better soon. She's even walking a bit oddly in her hind legs..

One rancher bought 2 males from us years ago to put out with his small herd in the mountains. He now has a stuffed cougar and a coyote head in his shop that they killed and we know this because he came back for a 3rd dog
Coyotes are bold especially when hungry but it's better protection than letting the herd fend for themselves and lose hundreds vs 5
Pens, yes. Though, locking them up at night in a shed is going to be a hassle. Those things get hot very quickly in the summer time, so you'd be needing to get up at the crack of dawn to let them out to graze
I am convinced coyotes are crossing with wolves in our area. Only a couple weeks ago a pack of massive coyotes where in our pasture. I went out to try to scare them with my dog and multiple took off after my dog

My guess is those those pups were specifically bred for huge ranches to leave out with the herd in the middle of nowhere to protect them from big cats and coyotes. People do that here with giant sheep herds.
