Hummer Yes, I couldn't get any to scent with is what I mean I tried scenting with tuna, because that works sometimes, and it did for a couple feedings, but then he refused that too.
Hummer Thats very true with alot of snake species and yes there are alot of hognoses that are perfect eaters, but you don't want to get one that isn't. Lol I had one when I was first starting my reptile keeping and had to rehome him, because I had no access to frogs and he went off rodents
Corn snakes or King snakes I would say are the best overall beginner. They eat with no problems ever, they are super active and can be very tame, but they do need a bit of a larger enclosure when they are adults. Sand boas are a great smaller snake, but they are always burried, so you will never see them unless they are hungry. Also hognoses are gpod smaller ones but they are sometimes impossible to keep eating, because they eat frogs in the wild, so sometimes they go off of rodents. Garter snakes are awesome. They are smaller, you can keep multiple together, they can eat anything from rodents to fish to chicken hearts etc. And they can be tame if you raise them right. I can keep going XD
@July, most snakes eat frozen-thaw so you just keep the mice in a freezer. Garter snakes eat fish, but you can really handle them based on my research. If you want a pet that eats insects I would get a lizard or gecko.
preferably smaller, also hopefully insectivore/egg-eating because i have two dogs and there wouldnt really be a place to hold live prey/thaw but would be workable also
