Yeah. I try not to judge until I have all the correct info. I used to think Saddleseat was abuse till I came here- so I have just stepped away from mainstream opinion. Because all mainstream shows is the extreme.
You also need to ask, what was the circumstance of the death? Some of those injuries are freak and can happen virtually anywhere, others, such as heart bursts from being pushed too hard is just straight shameful for anyone who was involved with that horse, I think that's my stance on it. I do not think the deaths are just easily excusable and unimportant, but to a degree it's not just something that mostly occurs under racing.
celeste big lick, they sore the horses hooves and hocks so they pick their legs up to an over exaggerated step, they cut the tendon on the tail so the horses cannot bring their tail down, its sad all around and i view it as much much worse than racing.

I do not know enough about Big Lick to call on it. The farrier that does our padded shoes for Saddleseat does it for a big lick barn that is local- but they do not allow public there, which is common here for showing barns. We only allow current students/owners to be at our barn. I just will not call on something I do not know enough about/on.
Star, as a person with a working dog I don't either, but I know for a fact all bred working dogs we have will put their life on the line to get their jobs done, and that makes the dog happy.
If you have Dapple Blend Grain, you can feed it to your horse and their coat will dapple.
The effect will wear off after a few days. One pound of grain will be fed at a time.

Showing in the special weekly shows doesn't count against your horse's weekly regular show count.
