And yeah void is right. We have a mare at the barn with a low palette, when they first got her they had to switch bits quite a bit to find the right one. And it was not a snaffle, cannot remember what she uses though.
@hummer last friday i went to feed and found one of my fillies acting paralyzed in her back legs, couldnt get up by herself. the first vet we had out said it was sepsis, we IV'd her, and she acted more lively bit she still needed to be picked up. monday we had another vet out that thinks she has inflammation halfway down her back on top of the sepsis. and on top of all that, the antibiotics for the sepsis killed all her good bacteria so the inflammation is harder to handle. and she is just so beaten up from throwing herself around. the second vet sounded so hopeful that she would recover but i think little girl is losing her spirit. she was the only baby i was planning to keep back this year. just makes me feel like i can never get ahead.
Just be stern with her taking the bit. Not mean, but do not give up. Unfortunately some horses test every time you hop on them. They test each other in the pasture too, to make sure boss mare is still boss mare.
Guys what are some tricks you use to get a horse to stope testing you and keep taking a bit.
My mare usually took them fine but recently has been refusing. And her teeth got checked and are fine. And she does often come up with new ways to test me and I think this is her latest
I've heard coyotes stay away from wolf howls. BUT, neighbors might not like that. lol
I've thought of wolf howling when those coyote hunters come with there coyote recording blasting out of their trucks. Yo, private property here, get moving.
This past winter I found a coyote tail in one of our pastures. Not sure what happened to the rest of the coyote, but one of the horses was so spooked by it. It was kind of funny
