We can't really know what it feels like for them - I would say if you wouldn't want someone to do it to you without pain relief, animals should be given that mercy too.
If you have Dapple Blend Grain, you can feed it to your horse and their coat will dapple.
The effect will wear off after a few days. One pound of grain will be fed at a time.
