I want to show- I love the horses, all of them, and I do make sure they are a tad spoiled while under me, but I do not want to show up to a show with a horse that does not fit me well. Every horse at the barn has some strengths and weaknesses. The trainers really take care to match us with horses that they know we will flourish with and love riding and showing.
i guess if showing is your priority that makes sense ive always just leased the horse i like the most and then decided what we can show but ive also never prioritized showing
Like, I want to do Arabian Regionals next year, but I am fully understanding that my second choice is not an Arabian or Arabian cross. And that is ok to me. Because my main goal is year end awards- and I can do that with my second, third, fourth, duty, and sixth choices lol
You are allowed to say no, and you are given options that you number. They really try to get everyone who they want that also fits their goals for the show season. There are so many of us who want to lease with various different goals.
ive done half leases at show barns, ive just never heard of the trainer actually telling you which horse you were supposed to lease. Although i guess before i left my old barn they did want me to lease a horse i absolutely did not want to lease, but i would have still been allowed to ask to lease a different horse
If you start leasing in the middle of a month because a rider dropped their lease they pro rate you that month. That is what I did with Lexi last year. But that is such a rarity with the show leases
This is a show lease. Leases start on Jan 1st and end December 31st You sign for that length of time only. It is up to the barn trainers to decide who would be good options for you. If you show poorly on a horse way over your level it looks bad on the barn, and you do not accomplish anything in the show which can make people feel down about showing in general, I know I did with Lexi sometimes last year. These are not full leases- half leases. If you lease from one of the boarders owners that between rider and horse. I do show lease, because I show.
Oh I love when the news over exaggerates the smallest thing. Today there was an article that was titled “Alfonso Rebeiro SEVERELY injured at Disney world” all he did was sprain his ankle lol
wraith and you can only start a lease at a certain time of year? at the barns ive been at its always just been if theres a horse available and the owners think you wont ruin them or get killed you can lease them starting whenever
For abscesses, that is. We had one horse who never had a lame day until we sold him. Like a week before we trailed him to his new home he pulled up with four abscesses 😂🙃
