I personally don't want to make breeding KNN any easier. Nothing has to change with the game. People just have to take the breed seriously, but there's not a lot of glory or EBs in it because they aren't top LB horses until very very recently.
Old type KNN are virtually non-existant now though, nor do they really represent the "WB" type most people think of (generally, anyways). Old Knabs are pulling/carriage horses and are/were very solidly built.
It would get a little noodley though since it would open the question for PATN SH x KNN backbreeding to breed true or not. I think WBs should probably be allowed to cross into KNN regardless since so many WB breeds aren't represented in game that are on the approved list.
And as for real life KNNs - yes there are certain crossbreeds allowed and they might get papers from some associations... But on the other hand you will find a lot of hardcore breeders who want to keep foundation blood purebred
I think you could justify a PATN carrying TB to SH as a "too high" TB bloodstock for it to qualify in KNN standard. That would be a very realistic interpretation if that's the goal.
If you want to just breed spotted pixel ponies you have the option to breed SH, ISH and PON. KNN are meant to be a really difficult challenge in the game for those who want to conquer it.
And for the art: You can always upload KNN art to your SH/ISH/PON horses for example
I do get tired of people trying to shut down suggestions because "that sounds like a hassle to program". I know too many programmers that if they like the idea, will go "you know what? Challenge accepted"
the modern eventing KNN is more than likely a TB mix or high TB% anyways. I don't believe the old type is very common or at the competition level to be noteworthy.
I mean she was the one who suggested it; I don't think it would really be all that difficult allowing PBing to new breeds. I think the only hassle would be retroactive changes, but you might be able to restrict it based on ID#. It does seem pretty realistic a thing though!
I kind of like the challenge of the KNN genes. it makes things harder, but it's also more interesting than just throwing horses together to get a certain breed.
that being said, I wish I had started doing things with KNNs on an entirely new account, since it is very involved XD
