I've personally been keeping all my captured mares to add to my fodder breeders no matter their rating lol they can also be good for helping with completing quests
If you have Dapple Blend Grain, you can feed it to your horse and their coat will dapple.
The effect will wear off after a few days. One pound of grain will be fed at a time.

Showing in the special weekly shows doesn't count against your horse's weekly regular show count.
