I have been trying to cull my SD mares off of W production, but should I be doing it a different way if Ws are so easy to get now?

-HEE Click- also not a reliable way lmfao

Eventually I want to breed to a leaderboard horse

With my SD I've started to only keep/test he colts out of LB pairings. Any W colts from my freshman get yeeted because I'd be drowning in freshman otherwise

And I get it - with AD breeding being adjusted, SD would of course slide up too. But I lowkey would like SD in a bubble thats harder now LOL but I know it doesnt happen in a vaccum
The Old Gods
11:08:56 Void Malign
And no, production isn't either lol. I've had the same happen.
Cappuccino
11:08:48 Heyy it's Capp
Thats what I use. If I have boys with 2+ up and no week 6 level, I no longer waste my time testing
The Old Gods
11:08:13 Void Malign
I tried tracking leveling a few years ago, but didn't see much of a correlation.
Cappuccino
11:08:12 Heyy it's Capp
I'd say my SD W production - freshie or not - has gone from say maybe 45-55% W to now 90% so thats not really the best indicator anymore either LOL
The Old Gods
11:07:38 Void Malign
fuck if I know lmao
Cappuccino
11:07:13 Heyy it's Capp
What was his leveling like? That tends to be a better indicator to me.
The Old Gods

Like, this guy: -HEE Click- two up weeks 3/6/9. 9 out of 10 foals were W. Landed #54

Yeah I’m always wary of good training >_> I’ve had so many solid training horses flop
deadwood dressage
11:05:41 deadwood
If I had remained consistent throughout my years, perhaps I'd be doing better than I am
Motonemi
11:05:14 AL, mum to Nemi
Stick them in a pasture and let them breed for 3 months then cull?
Cappuccino
11:04:28 Heyy it's Capp
And there are *so* many more SD breeders now that it has to play a role as well
The Old Gods
11:04:13 Void Malign
Kinda why I'm scratching my head on culling. I don't want to test everyone lol. Don't have the time for it...Or the sanity, but the current method ain't working

I keep based on training, first foals and then LB stnding
Cappuccino
11:03:27 Heyy it's Capp
Same with AD horses. My current freshie is up all week 11 and sitting mid-ish LB but AD has been "off" for a long time.

So I think the SDs are catching up to the whole "training literally isnt everything"
