I think grain is foreign to a lot of people. It is to me anyway, but I also never took the time to figure it out lol

Now I am going to research grain. I didn't understand it back in 2022, now I am determined to know.

You’d be able to plant hay.

Oh! Interesting so if I put my yearlings out there and they put them back in barns during the spring, can I plant hay or no because its no longer luscious?

The game guide has very general info about pastures, but as far as actual rest time on them, there's no information as far as I know.

Game guide:

When keeping horses in pastures, your pasture will have a Pasture Quality trait. The highest quality is Lush Pasture, the lowest is Barren Pasture. Pastures will degrade over time from highest to lowest, and the speed at which it degrades is based upon how many horses you have in the Pasture. High quality pastures provide more feed to horses and so less hay is needed. Lush pastures require zero hay supplementation, while barren pastures require full hay supplementation.

If you move your horses out of a pasture, the pasture will grow back it's grass, all the way to Lush Quality. However, in the Winter grass does not grow. So it will take longer to grow back during the winter months.

If you put Mares and Stallions of breeding age in a pasture together, they will try to mate. Please read about Pasture Breeding in the Breeding section of this guide for more information.

Thank you for also reminding me to sell the surplus of round bales. I do not need 100 round bales LOL

And the more horses you have on it, the quicker it will deplete
Jericho Stables
06:50:16
Depends on where the quality is at. The lowest quality is barren, meaning no grass.

I was wondering that, Cloud. Are they in the game guide?

Pastures have so many nuances to them when it comes to putting horses in them that I just leave them empty and only use them for hay.

I have been using my pasture as a source of supplemental income by growing Hay in the spring.
How long is the "rest" period?

Once you put horses in a pasture they will eat the grass and the quality will go down. Unless you water the grass or rotate to “rest” pastures. Otherwise you will have to supplement with round bales eventually.
