when a horse reaches 10 on one side can show in another side, but you will have to change the training. when 10 in dressage, cross country and jumping, no they can no longer show
Painted Perfection
Albinism in nature is highly lethal unless theyre in born in colder climates for a camouflage stand point. Most wild animals with albinism dont live long
Athelwood Estates
Or is that too much of a hassle to go through and not train specific horses?
Athelwood Estates
Quick question. When a horse reaches the level of a schoolmaster they don't show anymore, correct? So do you guys train them to a higher level and quite training them so they never reach schoolmaster status and they can keep showing and making money?
Painted Perfection
I know it is but I call is Albinsm because its sort of the same but different from genetics stand point. I dont know. I know it isnt but I call it that sometimes to make it more understandable for my brain
Painted Perfection
The difference is albinism is a genetic mutation which doesnt exist in horses. LWS or lethal White Syndrome is a genetic disorder
Ravenwood Farm
Just checked, a white x frame is fine. But I don't like that combination lol
Painted Perfection
Homozygous frame and white are lethal white. Because they create albino which is basically lethal white since albinism cannot exist in horses
Minerva
Yep, there's only a 25% chance of lethal white- it happens when the foal inherits the white (or frame) from both parents. So there's a 50% chance of a heterozygous white foal that will live, and a 25% chance of a non-white foal that will also obviously be fine
Crystal Rivers
I'mma look at that real quick then. Cause I needa learn more about breeding horses together
Glacier Bay Farms
Dumb question, do lethal white foals show up in the rainbow bridge
Ravenwood Farm
I think white x frame is ok? Not entirely sure though. That said, white hiding frame sounds like a nightmare
Painted Perfection
Hence why I play survival of the fittest when breeding and do not bother to match them. Either breeding two frames will get me a foal or it doesnt. I dont care since I have so many horses. I let fate decide
