I clip my cats claws while she is sleeping, otherwise it’s a huge drama. Can normally clip a whole foot before she boots up fully

I'm not sure I can really help him since he won't take any kind of play or treat or anything for doing good even when I touch. It might just perpetually be a vet thing, so I don't become the evil one in his eyes by breaking trust and touching those feets.

I'd hope the vet would spot that. I've taken him in a couple of times now for his back feet to check and see. No injury, no inflammation. The fact that he walks away from me tail floofed and not even wanting his favourite stuff is what makes me think someone did something on accident.

Ripley had some foot issues for a bit when she split a nail and I had to carefully trim it so it wouldn't catch on anything.
The Old Gods
That sucks. Maybe some past trauma from before you getting him? I've had Ripley since kitten hood, so I know her entire history.
Versailles
The only thing I can think is that his foster owner accidentally quicked him really bad on his back paws or something. He's had his feet checked for any other issue, and there's absolutely heckin' nothing lol
The Old Gods
If she fought me too hard, I'd just stop and the only treats she'd get was for the claws she let me trim. Or I'd just fiddle with her feet and give her a treat.
Versailles
I've tried that, it doesn't work either. Even with tube right in front of his nose, he thrashes and freaks out. I legit have to get a vet to do his back feet 95% of the time.
The Old Gods
Ripley would bite, so I basically gave her a treat for each claw she let me trim.
Versailles
Sketti allows his front paws to be trimmed but not his back. And I cannot for the life of me figure out why. Total calm for the front paws, expects his treat after. He knows the routine. With his back feet, he howls. And I mean, literal screeching/howling/thrashing. Doesn't even take his treat after. I've never quicked him...
The Old Gods
But speaking of claws, I need to get some kitty tube treats so I can teach Socks to allow her claws to be trimmed.
The Old Gods
Honestly, I put the blame on the breeder for all of April's issues. She fed her cats raw chicken, so after April got home, she developed a severe case of diarrhea and I'm convinced that she didn't get the proper brain nutrition because it was such persistent diarrhea
Versailles
It's not even legal to declaw in most states anymore, in the US. I'm glad claw caps are a thing. My two void cats *both* ended up with arthritis in their feet since they didn't have all of their foot structure anymore, from the declawing
The Old Gods
Mind you, this was all in the 90s prior to the whole claw cap thing
The Old Gods
| :| I once gave April a bath. After I dried her off and let her go, she promptly walked to the wall and sprayed it. She got declawed in the first place because she'd sit on my bed while I slept and claw my face |
