of course the other white patterns of other breeds count, I never said they didn't. But they are even harder to get since a pattern there is not guaranteed and you can either capture with a pattern pass, have the horse have a pattern and AAA ratings, capture at the beach with a map and go through 5-6 of those before getting one with a pattern, who then also could be just SSS. KNN still seems like the easiest and cheapest way to get the quest done. And if you want to make sure they have PATN then catch stallions I guess.

I am about done with quests today.. not only did I buy an "unbred" mare I couldn't use since she was a surrogate... now I was breeding for a EEE with silver.. and it said capture.. I am done.. lol

yes, but if we're talking about a quest where a patterned horse needs to be captured, a frame horse should also fulfil that requirement

it's just much easier to be 100% sure you're capturing a patterned one with a map if you go after KNNs lol

Ahh, the chaos of KNN genes

-HEE Click- he is homo PATN2, but if I only breed him to TB/AA/X mares it won't matter, should I breed him to a LpLp mare though, even if she doesn't have PATN genes her foals will be spotted appies.

01:31:54 San
ok but specifically in KNNs they are not allowed to have the other white patterns - and PATN can come up in breeds that don't have appy, where it doesn't benefit their breed but they can have patterned appy foals when bred to horses who can and do have the LP gene

PATN is just connected to the appy gene, to show the different ones for that. the appy pattern isn't the only pattern a horse can have, though
Santana Rising
01:29:19 San
tosk probably knows more about that since she captures a lot

I'm not an actual KNN breeder but capture them to cross with my SHs and for bravery - and right now all the wild KNN girls I've captured have some sort of PATN to them.
Santana Rising
01:25:57 San
honestly I cannot tell, since I was under the impression that the appy alone would be enough to meet the requirement - until today when Ven said otherwise. So new studies need to be conducted ;)

If the horse's color is just "x appaloosa", there aren't any PATNs. It just means the horse has Lp or LpLp for its leopard complex. It's the PATNs that turn them into blanket appies, snowflake appies, etc. So you will never see a KNN stallion or geld that's just "bay appaloosa" etc, but you will see plain Lp mares :)

San.. so I got lucky that she fulfilled pattern?
Santana Rising
01:22:36 San
I only wonder if in that case the quest wouldn't finish, though I can't remember if I ever captured a "plain" appy mare - and I also use KNN captures to finish that quest
Santana Rising
01:21:03 San
Gibbs, when you breed two KNNs, sometimes the foals come out SH - that's because they need to be appy (Lp) to be a KNN filly and spotted appy (Lp + PATN) to be a KNN colt. Of course the colt KNNs you capture will always have Lp and Patn, but for the mares it is not a requirement to have Patn, therefore you COULD capture a KNN mare who is of course appy, but lacks the PATN genes.

or breeding KNNs, to be specific

they're talking about breeding, the capturing the patterned horse quests can have any pattern, like sabino or splash white

Ven if she is PATN -1 and PATN-2 than what did you mean when you said female KNN can have no PATNs ?
