Flo shook her head "i dont even want to know why you would need to do that" just the thought of tearing someone apart like that made her queasy. "how do you joke about that though?" sh tilted her head, geinuenly curious

Sage glanced over at the girl and shrugged. "If their heart stops beating we do what we have to," he noted. "That's sort of the point of surgery...it's just a bit more extreme version." Then he shook his head with a sigh. "This guy has over a liter of blood in his chest and his heart and lungs couldn't function. So we had to open him up, drain the blood, shock his heart back into motion, and then stitch him up. But with so long without oxygen he's brain dead." He glanced over at her, realizing she wouldn't necessarily know what that meant. "means his brain isn't working. The only thing keeping him alive was the machines that breathed and pumped blood for him," he noted

"that's terrible..." she mumbled, her eyes glued to the wall, the floor, technically anything other than the man on the bed. She leaned back against a wall, her arms crosses against her chest. She took a deep breath and turned away from Sage, facing the door. "Is there anyone that isn't dead?" she asked

Sage hummed softly and nodded, moving to wander out and close the door behind them. "Well, your friend for one," he noted. "One or two of the others have a chance at waking up and healing. Getting back to normal. A few others might wake up but will have mental and physical difficulties. The rest are living via machine," he murmured. Then he let out a sort of chuckle. "I promise it's not normally this depressing. They took everyone who can survive somewhere else," he mused. He gave her a grin. "But there's nothing like going against all odds and saving someone," he noted, eyes glowing. He did love the whole thing....he really did.

Florida gave a stiff nod then glanced at the sheet before the door closed. She suddenly seemed to perk up after her brain processed his words. "could we see her?" she asked, fighting the urge to grab his sleeve. "oh please please please?" She paused. "Wait- I don't need permission. Where is she at?" She put her hands on her hips though there was a shy smile on her face

Sage chuckled when the girl seemed to light up and nodded his head in the direction of the hallway. "She's down there," he mused. "Go past the bathrooms and it's the first door in the left," he mused in a somewhat amused manner. It was nice to see the girl happy, he supposed, and he couldn't help but let his gaze linger on her as she ran off. He wasn't sure why he felt like he's known her forever when it had really only been a few days but....oh well.

Florida bounded down the hallway, searching for a split second then walking in. Grace was sleeping. but she had more color to her face which was a good sign. Flo sat down on her bed and looked at her hands. She used to always know what to say, even i tough situations like these, but she was at a loss for words. What if Grace woke up and didnt remember her? Or if she's mad? Or if she doesn't wake up in time to speak to Flo? She looked away from Grace and stepped into the halls

Sage had watched the girl until she'd turned the corner, than huffed out a slight breath before moving onto the next room. The patient there was the same as always, and he noted it down in the woman's chart before moving on again. He noted Florida in the hall and moved towards her with a sort of hum. "How's she doing," he asked, sliding past her into the room and checking the monitors and such. There lots of good signs.... hopefully she'd wake up soon. And be alright.

Flo lookedd up at Sage "She looks better to me" She followed him back into the room, keeping her eyes on Grace. She hed her emotions in, though she was slowly losing her grip on self control. She just needed one good long cry and she would be okay for a while... she just had to get away long enough to actually do it. Florida sat on the foot of the bed and watched Sage move around. "Are you feeling any better?"

Sage glanced over at Florida when she spoke up, nodding in response to her comment. "Good," he mused, moving to gently open her eyes and shine his flashlight over them quickly before clocking it off and hitting the notes down on his chart. "She's showing lots of good signs. She should be waking up in a few days," he noted before chuckling at Florida's other comment. "Physically? No. But I feel better being up and doing my job than just sitting around," he mused with a shrug.
