I am always so concerned with my word choice being mistaken for AI usage, people at work always think I write my emails with AI but the reality is I just read a ton of books haha
I'd make one change; switch "horrors abound" to "horrors arise". (It's just more poetic in keeping with your linguistic choices in the rest of the piece.)
Also I very much agree with MC; AI is SO obvious. What makes a good writer is learning your own voice and leaning into it (but also taking editing well).
