I just started a side account a few days into this month and I have just over 100k from showing and no spending except for necessities. I bought higher level geldings since they earn more, I just bought a few at first but now have a full barn. And if I'm being honest I wasn't showing and managing it perfectly, but still earned a decent amount
Keep in mind that you get daily income from the game. And there are other ways to earn money, but you have to be selling something that people are interested in
Why doesnÂ’t this game offer more ways to earn money? Like smaller stuff that still helps new players keep their stable afloat long enough to get a show string?
Going off of what San said, it's really easy to want to spend money, but you need to keep a budget in mind so that you can keep your stable afloat and achieve your goals, so controlling splurges is important. It's not enough to make money if you don't know how to retain it and budget too, otherwise you'll always be in debt
It takes a bit of time to build up a show string, but if you keep PPP+ horses just start training and showing them and even at level 1 the profit is small but still something and your skill grows with your horses without losing too much money at first
Most of us have working show strings which bring in more than we spend (although watching that we DON'T overspend is always a good idea), so we are not dependent on other players and making some extra from people buying or breeding to our horses is just a nice bonus.
If you have Dapple Blend Grain, you can feed it to your horse and their coat will dapple.
The effect will wear off after a few days. One pound of grain will be fed at a time.
If you feed Senior Blend to your senior horse they will have a 10% decreased chance in dying
when the weekly script runs on Monday morning. The effect lasts for one weekly cycle.

You can hire a rider. They will be automatically assigned to your horse. Be sure to visit the Rider's Lounge and pay them.
Set Breeding Requirements for your horse. Enter the minimum rating allowable for breeding. When breeding, Any combo of the entered values and higher will be accepted. Leave blank to set to None.
Edit your horse's remarks. Keep all content PG-13.
Choose a Background for your horse.
Withdraw your horse from it's team. You will lose all team points for this horse. Please discuss this action with the team manager first.
Your horse may show 3 times per week. Shows run daily. Your horse and rider will gain valuable experience from showing. Select a discipline to show in, or scratch from tonight's show.
