LOL that's basically what my guy had done. A cowboy sat on him once but he won't let you touch his feet or back and he's extremely suspicious of tack so I don't know how that happened. He's come a long way though, the farrier got two front feet done last week and he comes to me in the paddock and let's me and one other guy catch him now. Slowly working on letting him get used to other people handling him as well |

I despise Oklahoma right now xd the wind is nuts, its supposed to snow again, it was seventy last week and now its forty outside |

That's brill thank you! I'm told this guy "basic leads" but he's been turned out on 80 acres in a herd of colts for the last lord knows how long (and he's not quite 2 yet) so I'm assuming that only means you can remain attached and end up roughly where you wanted to be xD I'm super excited though. My aunt had a couple of feral minis that she broke to drive eventually and the bond they had was phenomenal |

It was like 75 degrees here today and I rode my horse. Could barely keep his lazy butt going around a 2'3" course so I'm gonna die when it comes time to jump 3' courses in 95/100 degree heat come mid-July lol |

Also, I keep mine in a roundpen so anytime I handle him it's easier to turn it into a training session if need be. Everytime he turns his butt to me I chase him off and turn it into work. The butt is NOT allowed to face me. He can escape if he's uncomfortable, he can go sideways or backwards, but the hindquarters swjnging towards me is not an option. He is very good now at turning and facing me head on when he's uncertain, which keeps us both safer. You can't work and deferalize them if they're unsafe |

Everytime he gets a halter on he gets a treat and that alone made a huge difference |

Lol slow and gentle, but confident. You don't want him to get used to being handled slowwwllyyyy, because then you trip or something and he gets reactive. The more you do the less reactive he'll get, basically. Without being overwhelming |

Yay Puck! Do you have any tips for first handling ferals? I've got one coming start of May and I'll take all the advice I can get lol. Plan is to just go slowly and gently and pray for the best xD |

Puck Yay! That's good! Pony is very cute! Does feral pony have a name? Or is it's name Feral Pony? xD |
