Horses are their own being and can think. In a new place, I would expect them to not act normal and be on their toes slightly. Plus, the energy of the place can totally feed into their behaviour.
Wow Ever been to Dressage warmup at a 4 or 5 star eventing venue? These are internstional,level horses, and to say that they never get antsy, or run through the bridle with their riders from time to time is just dumb.
homie what kinda robots have you been riding? Every horse is going to have some sort of reaction to being taken away from everything it knows and brought to a location where the atmosphere is tense and they're expected to perform to the best of their ability.
Ghost I've never had a good experienced horse get antsy. Why do you think breeders are so selective with their studs? If it offends you I'm sorry, but I don't think a stud like that should be kept as a stud
Its a big difference between nervous and unhandable. Nervous of strange places is normal, doesnt matter if its humans, dogs or horses. But dog/horse that doesnt calm down or is impossible to handle? Might not be great breeding material if it has otherwise been well trained
