I am always hesitant using old lines because I worry they won't be able to compete with current boys. Hence when my studs retire I always try to use their straws relatively quick
Yeah one never knows, even my freshie who debuted this year - up 4/6 week 7 and leveled 2 debuted at "only" #11 so training is definitely only one marker
If you have Dapple Blend Grain, you can feed it to your horse and their coat will dapple.
