Hearing the coyotes scream at night used to give me nightmares as a kid, sucked to hear when they got into a friends coop because their kid didn't latch it shut and lost a few birds. They caught the coyote on the coop cam
Hate to be that way but just the way it has to be until we have someone who can relocate them. I have the equipment and training to relocate venomous snakes. I do not have any knowledge or anything to relocate a coyote.
Not allowed on my property either. At least in the back. I am not too caring about the front right at this moment. They have so much other space to roam honestly.
My general attitude is they can do whatever they please out in the woods. If an animal dies and we haul it out to the woods, they're welcome to have it. It's when they breach the inner fence line that we're gonna have problems
-HEE Click- catching and releasing her for a quest, but i just wanna admire the pretty coat + background combo for a sec lol. she looks like something out of a movie.
theres an over abundance of yoties here, pretty sure they're pushing on the brink of overpopulation. a lot that i see are more sickly. and ever since that one terrible year when i lost 3 foals to coyotes, any close enough to see are close enough to kill. they have enough room, they dont need to be by my animals. they would come in packs and steal the newborn baby before momma could get up, poor girls
No, not really. I thought it was neat. I was inside and looking out the window. More than anything, I don't care as long as they stay down in the bottoms. They have a whole 60+ acres to roam. They can leave the 5-7 acres the house stuff is on alone lol
i bet that was a real jump scare lol. i had a terrifying moment a few years ago when i lived in a condo in the city. i was on my patio and i saw a shape moving through the bushes, thought it was my neighbor's dog loose again so i was called to it, then it whipped it's head around and stared right at me before doing the eerie fast-trot away.
That relies on actually seeing them lol. The only time I've seen a coyote was probably 25 years ago at fuck'o'clock at night when it trotted under the nightlight
yeah the coyotes here have gotten less scared of people, too. i make sure to throw rocks/yell at any i see during the day that aren't keeping their distance. the lack of education about not keeping wild animals wild is making the human-animal conflicts worse and more frequent. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, but as a whole we've really failed at the prevention part lol.
They're prickly pears, so you just brush up against them and you're covered in fine spines. They're not fun to land on. I can attest to this. It's a pretty decent deterrent.
