~ I'm honestly so confused on why my girls are not producing well/consistantly. I think I need some brutal, honest advice and help on what I need to do change/ who I should sell. I love them but they seem to hate me most months. I put them all to top ABLB studs.. Are they just... Weaker mares? Should I just throw my hands up and sell all and start over?? ugh.. Thanks for any/all advice. Please help. ~ Experienced members only please! <3 |

Okay, so I think I'm going to do this by breaking down each category into "keep / prioritize," "meh, could work", and "unimpressed / get rid of." I'm also going to start this off by reminding that SH as a breed can be very rough to work with. Since there are SO many, it's very competitive. Lots of new foals every month. . I will NOT be making mention of their foal history since I don't want to really go through each individual mare's exact matches and how the traits lined up. I might do this for the LB mares if one looks especially interesting. . I'm going to be VERY blunt, as asked. . Here we go: . Keep / Prioritize: - ᘿ Khaliset #62 DSHLB - This one isn't easy to really judge since she JUST debuted. Keep her around, prioritize her every month for items so that you have the EBs for her.
- ᘿ Thalassa +2 UNDEBUTED - This baby has not debuted. I cannot say much about her that would be fair. She IS svenned, which I do highly take into account. I'd say the same about her as I do about Khaliset.
. "Meh": - ᘿ Alita - She is not the worst, and may very easily be worth keeping. In theory, her training is decent. But the lack of week 7 CAN indicate a generalized weakness.
Unimpressed / Remove: - ᘿ Vassi #92 SHLB - I won't lie, this one's training does discourage me. The week 4 COULD have been a fluke, but she makes me uneasy with that 4 alongside the minimal 7. As blunt as possible: she's been dropping on the boards like a rock. I wouldn't be surprised if she entirely falls off. I'd say she made a good foal which initially put her ONTO the boards, but as a whole, isn't very strong and is not worth giving priority to.
. AS A WHOLE: No, you do not have the absolute strongest mares yet. They need time to climb. If they were on the SHLBs generally, I'd say I'd be more concerned. Your WWW babies aren't strong enough to compete yet with the higherups. SH LBs are VERY competitive because of the SHEER number of people breeding them every season. They're going to be hard to make competitive because you need something super exceptional. You can get there, just these aren't it yet. . NOT WORTH BURNING DOWN, just need more time and more items. Medallions, if not svens. |

I was also wondering about this boy... I know he's only 2 but I really don't want to be wasting my ebs on duds... I'm supposed to be saving 1.5M every year after RO but it's hard when I keep getting shit and all I want is EWW+ .. so I breed and breed till I'm broke. |

I personally would sell/ignore any horse thats not 5/6+ wk 4. Especially studs, even 5/6 might not be good enough for the SH boards if it's as competetive asd they say (I breed warmbloods). I have never (hopefully my 1 and 2 year olds change that) had a good horse out of a homebred mare, only outside + top LB mares (not that it's not possible, but still.)
. I agree, definitely focus on the WWW's and either sell/brood out/sell embryos to the EWWs. I would also recommend buying broods/embryos to top 10 horses, however you have to be more pick than that too. The mare should be high on the LB, and had WWW foals that have landed high on the leaderboard. I personally bred to a #50 WBLB mare because she had produced 2/3 of the top 3 WBLb mares, because I thought she could produce another star.
. To summarize, if you have the money, breed to outside mares, with top studs, and save for a sven/medallion. If you don't, focus on your WWW mares and buy them the best items you can.
. A different breed may also give you an easier time, but with time you'll be able to make it with SH! |

I don't want to change breeds, I have done that too much in my 14 years here xD. I have an embryo coming from the #15 SHLB mare. The boy I am putting her with has produced 4 WWWs and one WWE with her so I'm hoping that will be a good little foal. (probably will sven) ~ I'm trying to sell, most likely will auction the EWWs and most likely the WWW colt. ~ I am planning on filly svening the Vassi X Stolas embryo that I made last year, next year. I haven't used svens before but I can aford them if I don't over spend threw out the month. ~ I guess I should start saving for a few months to get a good chunk of ebs in savings, then go stalk the brood auctions or figure out where to look/ who to talk to for LB mares. ~ Thank you so much for all the help! ~ If there is anything else that you think I'm missing please put it here. I have been here a long ass time and I think I'm just rusty and need a refresh, new look. ~ I'm for sure going to look at more top 10+
LB broods, I use to buy 100k-300k broods on RO before I got Alita in september, but since then I have been focusing on her and her foals. I do make quite a bit more now in shows and selling upgrades so I know price isn't a huge issue I just need to get a hold of my bad spending and figure out who broods out their LB girls. I'm very to myself and pop in and out of chat randomly, so I'm not up to date on who has LB mares really :p ~ I see I have a bunch of stuff I have to go hunt down an look out for. Too boring, you are just breeding for WWW. Expensive and a hiding to nothing. Kick out a few of those boring geldings and buy some fun colour mares, whatever is are your favorites. Breed those up for a laugh. Pick up some PEE combos. Or try for the explorers. You are expert.. should be easy... Sport horse is fun, you know them, stick with them. |

Trashing geldings for crappy mares with "fun" colors is not great advice unless you don't care about having an income of EBs from shows. If you want to be a color breeder, sure, but Eagle Creek has indicated they want to be competitive on the LBs |
