So 3 and a half years ago (honestly I thought it was longer ago) I posted This to the same forum category, absolutely ecstatic that I had started riding. In those three years I have improved a fair amount (though due to a 6 month break up until December I had a slight set back) and I'm enjoying it more than ever. Also in those three and a half years, I: - rode a 17 year old ex racer, and had my first fall. Hospital trip, neck X-rays, and a permanent dead path of nerves on my leg -- totally fine otherwise!
- left my riding school, who I came to realise had industry practices I did not agree with
- starfed my equine diploma!
- learned what proper equitation is, learned how horses are MEANT to look when well ridden
- got terrorised by a connie
- passed my flat and road riding exams
- jumped for the first time (with little to no control)
- Rode and won my first dressage test (Thankyou Jack!)
- collected a horse for the first time
- got thrown off for the second time. Another pony, shocker
- sat on the most expensive horse I've ever met
- learned I love riding with no stirrups
- rode many sharp horses
- had no control ever when I've jumped. Ever. Also sat many bolts. Connect the dots!
and last but by no means least, applied to work at a racing yard as a work rider, because I've come to find that I love horses who hate me Hopefully i can make another post like this in a few years time, and tell you all more about my riding journey! |

Wow! You seemed to improved a lot. That fall must have hurt a lot. I fall my horse all the time. He is the spiciest pony I have ridden in my riding career. I have never gone to a real show before, just a junior riding club show. But that was when I was little, now I just don't have the time to train my horse. I hope you are having a great time with the horses! |
