Today (April 8th 2023) Was a bit of a difficult day, but we worked through it Started in the round pen, did a little lunging with poles but he wasn't super interested in it so we didnt do a ton lol Brushed him out because he was super dusty and then got on and had a nice ride in the round pen with a super nice round trot. Very proud of him! But honestly I felt a little bored, and could tell he was too so I opened the gate and we rode around the property (he was very good at maneuvering over sideways so that I could get the gate open). Overall very good however when we got to a muddy and a little wet part near the pond, he just refused to go forward/through the mud. I was getting frustrated, so we rode around the property and then came back. Same thing. Tried a bunch of different things under saddle but he kept refusing, so I got off and worked him through it on the ground. He ended up jumping over the mud like 20 times LOL before realizing he could just step through it. Safe to say he got a good workout today lmao. But he figured it out and I was proud of him. Practiced it in a couple different areas too. Similar-ish reaction, but he caught on quicker. We'll keep practicing it until he just steps through everytime. I turned him out in the roundpen while I worked and then once the pasture was available he got pasture time :) Hes definitely getting a lot more comfortable riding around the property and he seems happy so Im really happy and proud of him. Also all the topline and getting round/inframe work we've been doing on the ground is definitely paying off he's so lovely undersaddle. Topline is still a work in progress but its coming along!

I think today really made me realize how green he is on trails under saddle. He'll follow me pretty much anywhere on the ground and we've done a ton of groundwork and obstacle courses and arena work, but on trail its just different for him. But hes trying hard and being a very good boy, and I'm very proud of him :D Just got to get more trail miles on him and more practice.

I will fight you on that nickname later lmaoo . Yesterday (April 11th 2023) Was a pretty quiet day. Braided his mane and brushed him out Did a little polework in the round pen but it was pretty hot and so we didnt do too much because I dont think anybody enjoys running around getting a core workout while sweating profusely LOL Then I turned him out in the pasture for a couple hours until I had to go. We did a little obstacle course on the ground and then put him back for the night. I do need to start walking him outside the property, I've just been really busy and tired lately. On a different note though, I want to start doing shows with him soon :D Edited at April 12, 2023 09:49 AM by A grape

Yesterday (April 16th) was overall a very good day :) We did a ton of groundwork, lunged over ground poles, cavalettis, and practiced some halter/showmanship things. Then I brushed him out and hopped on, and we rode in the round pen, practiced going in and out of it, did some trot work, and then rode around the property. Did some trotting around the property, he was very good. Again similar thing as to what was happening April 8th with the mud/bad footing but he was more willing this time. I'm going to start lunging him there and walking him there a ton so that he gets over it. Besides that hes very comfortable walking and trotting all over the property :) We did the obstacle course too and he had fun We're going to be showing this summer! I'm really looking forwards to that Ill be sure to post updates when it happens, it starts in May :)
