I figured since I'm new to the game (joined about a month ago), I might as well introduce my irl equine friend also! He's a 19 year old, red dun QH gelding named Memphis! He used to be a ranch/trail horse before I got him, and now he gets to live his life and go on occasional walks around our boarding barn's property with me. We mostly do groundwork, as I'm trying to build some topline and strengthen his muscles. But he's also not a fan of being ridden, hence why we only go on short walks about maybe once or twice a month. A few fun facts about us would be: -I only train with positive reinforcement. It's gentle and builds positive associations between an animal and their handler. (Hence why it's used on literal zoo animals, instead of "pressure/release.") -Memphis is ridden 100% on HIS terms. If he says no, we don't do it, full stop. -He actually taught me more than I did him. I used to train traditionally, until one day he basically was trying to tell me 'this won't work, you'll have to find a new way for us to get along.' So I did! -I'm a little bit of a bit less bridle collector...it's an issue, haha! I recently ordered him a new gentle rope halter set up and had it done in pink and green! (For 'Wicked', duh!)
