I have looked through the forums and the different guides, however I am not quite understanding the different showing systems still. Can someone break each down for me, ie explain how to know when you're set up well enough to enter, how to decide what horses to enter and how to prepare those horses, how to be competitive, the bonuses/drawbacks, etc? I remember playing years ago and entering foals in the futurities and doing fairly well, but a recap on that would also be great. I would like to try them out in the following months, as I have been able to start a fairly decent gelding show string.
Thank you!

Maybe you´d want to check the guides first and then re-ask your questions, if you´d still had some:

Thank you, how do I successfully manage the riders?
Are SD Elite geldings better for show than SD World Class colts/stallions?

Single discipline can give better money.
However your riders do not need to train seperately in that discipline. Better and much simpler to have all riders doing 'all disciplines'. They can then be used for any horse in any discipline.
Each rating of horse takes a different amount of training to get to next level.
W horses train fastest (~4/5 weeks), however they may skip through too quickly to get more than one or two 1st/2nd prizes before going up to next level.
E horses train a bit slower(~5/6 weeks), but once they hit their peak they stay there for about 4 or 5 successes before going up to the next level.
P horses a bit slower (~6/7weeks) and stay longer at success level, however they begin to get get less competitive against the E&W horses.
S level are a lot slower. A & Sub take ages to get to competive at each level. But if that is all you have then still worth showing. It just takes patience.

Right now, I only have SD XC horses. With this being the case, is it better for me to train my riders SD or AD?
Would keeping W rated horses as stallions make them more comparable to E rated geldings, training -wise? Or would stallions still level too fast?

Hi,
Still better to train riders in all disciplines.
Reason being that they go up levels more slowly. Once they top out at level ten they retire. Very annoying. And causes much pain & confusion for a day while you dispose of excess horses and redistribute the others to alternate riders.
You want your riders to go up slowly and gain as much show experience as possible at each level.
Have a look at the top performing stables and look at their setups.
Cloud Peak, Shadow Empire, Rivercastle etc.
P.S. It is common to have PEE, EEP, EPE & EEE horses wining

I prefer horses with S and P ratings as (SD) show horses. They level up within 4-6 weeks and stay long enough in the winnings to get a couple shows in.
To me, E and W level up way too fast.

For the regular weekly shows, or for all the other show associations as well?

OK Kuewi, getting the secrets from top stable. It is so tempting to keep the trophy EWEs as your show horses.
