There are certain studs that are famous for being super awesome and most people cite their names long after they retired. People fight over their straws that are still in game. But I mainly see these kind of studs in AD breeding. So are there these kinds of "legends" when it comes to SD horses? I'm curious about any breed and any disciple :D

SF Nani I'd say was a big legend for SD breeding.

It's the first time I hear about him, what breed was he and which disciple? I'd love to look him up :D Moonlight Stud said: SF Nani I'd say was a big legend for SD breeding.

I believe Nani was an EEP TB who landed on the AD boards as he was such a strong producer in general. I recall using him a few times, but I have no idea if his straws would still be around. Edited at May 17, 2021 07:44 AM by Over the Garden Wall

I think the reason SD don't have "legends" is because most people don't sell straws unless you ask/don't put their horses up for public. I've had top 5 and often #1 AB XC boys, as has Trickster's Choice, and they just aren't up for breeding usually.

SDs are hard as many are also ABLB strong, as Lizzy discussed above. Early in Nanis career I was more AD focused for him, but as he got older I opened him up to more SD breeders which is why you hear about him still. But yes, he was very cool and im overjoyed to hear that he is still relevant!
There are two or three straws of his floating around HEE, and I hoard the rest. Once and a while I offer them to SD people or by request. I believe Airstone Manor got a W colt out of him the other month.
There is a Single Discipline hall of fame topic somewhere thats lists the top single discipline boys from as far back as people can remember, if you are interested in taking a look at that! Found it: https://horseeden.com/forums.php?f=6&t=6253 Edited at May 17, 2021 05:54 PM by Sagamore Farms

I can see how people have to "run after" SD studs, I also usually request the LCs or straws to the top studs. Most people seem to have "closed" SD herds or mostly focus on in house. I always have my boys up but I havent had many show stoppers, just some solid average boys LOL I say that to say I dont think there's been many "legends", SF Nani was, IMO because he hit the AD boards while having a P. Otherwise, I think he would have been like every other SD boy, flying under the radar lol
