Okay, so for whatever reasons, I have been unable to grasp this concept. It seemed simple enough, until i actually tried to put it into practice... I just can't figure it out, even after reading guides and everything else I could possibly find.
I've never been a person who lacked intelligence, logic or common sense, so this is absolutely driving me insane. So, as much as it pains me to admit, I need help. Like babysteps type, apparently.
I'd really appreciate it 😊

Hi,
I popped over a saw New Horizons - lovely.
Now on week 4 of training note down how many bars for each characteristic are up to 2 (weeks 1, 2, 3 they will be at 1 bar).
*
The bars that are at level one are weaker. Those at 2 are stronger.
Track also weeks 5, 7, 8 which are also revealing of strengths and weakness.
*
When matching; the bars showing weakness or strength should be balanced. So e.g. stallion with weak scope should be matched with mare of strong scope.
**
BUT the bars do not necessarily indicate a strong breeder. You can have a mare with lots of bars up at week 4 but she never gives you a good foal no matter the stallion you mate with her.
Some stallions the same.
*
Pop over to my 2yr old barn to see tracking in place.
*
If entering shows by hand it is good to check the bars are up for the required characteristics, eg. cross country should be up for hrt+spd+str.
*
Don't bother to keep tracking past week 9 or 10.
*
I hope that helps :)

@ZeroZero Thank you so much for the information. I'm gonna give it another go!
Would this also work for older horses?
I did take a stroll through your stables, you have a very beautiful herd, and quite organized as well, which is something I definitely need to work on, lol
P.S.
New Horizons was 99% luck, but I'm pretty proud of him nonetheless and I certainly appreciate the compliment 😊

Hi, thanks,
It does not work so easily/obviously for older horses.
It is much more indicative of strength and weakness before lots of showing.
I make sure my young horses show equaly in each discipline untill the ~9th week to clearly show their strengths.
When you show the horses they gain an extra point or two in their strongest showing abilities.
So over time the display moves away from the raw characteristic strengths toward the ones they show best in. So it gets a bit/very biased towards their best.
I am sure you will see older horses with very very poor Int or Scope when they are very old. It is less imbalanced when younger.
Don't worry about these values if seeking colours, this is purely to get the best of your EEP & above animals.
Your barns look good, but full. Have a trim down. Ohh I hate doing this but sell off any that appear to never get 1st or 2nd when showing or never get higher values when breeding.
Bye for now :)

I appreciate the tip, but can't figure out for the life of me, what "very AD" is. Would you mind elaborating on that, please?

AD is all disciplines, so eventing training, that you want to use for any horses you aim to breed for rating across all disciplines (WWWs) so if you want those, train all the horses you are attempting to breed together for WWWs in eventing to get correct results in weeks 4,7,etc

I didn't think it would, but didn't know for sure, so had to ask 🙂
I've been trying to sort through them and get numbers down, but having a really difficult time deciding who to keep and who goes, I just don't know enough about the game yet to trust my own judgment and it would be my luck that I'd cull a top tier horse. Sooo, yeah I've been procrastinating, lol

Thank you for the information 😊
I knew AD typically meant All Disciplines, I'm just not quite sure if that was what Circle Star was meaning or not, or if I was missing something somewhere, lol
