but you do need them. The mare you chose to be a surrogate "carries" the embryo to term for the mare it has been taken from (who might be retired or even deceased at this point). Therefore the surrogate herself cannot carry her own foal in that month.

Could someone explain what is the odea of using a surrogate mare when you don't actually need those when implanting an embryo?

How do raises tend to work? A small raise after a year working at the company full-time? After working for almost 3 years part time at the same company and dealing with a bunch of bull-shit, like managers and coworkers making up crap to fire me. Should I get a small raise? I work hard and the owner knows it, reason I am still there. Some of my coworkers get paid higher than I, for doing less (they are lazy and always try to take advantage of me which is crazy at our age. Makes me feel like we are in pre-school.) but they have been working there for 3-5 years full-time. Thank you for any advice :)

Start this off with stating that I personally haven't had a "real" 9-5 job. But the hubby is a mechanic. He'll tell his boss(es) that if they want him to stick around they need to give him a raise. Granted, he can afford to do that because there's other places ready to hire him if the current place takes offense to that, although nobody ever has. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to just ask for a raise :)

Don't know where you live but it depends on the company. When I worked retail I would only get a yearly raise that wasn't much. But I now work for a Fortune 500 company where I had gotten yearly raises based on performance, have gotten cost of living raises, bonuses. It also depends on what type of job you have. But it also doesn't hurt to advocate yourself and ask for a raise. Focus on your positives, not the negatives of someone trying to fire you.
