Hi everyone! I've been playing HEE since last May(this is my side account) and I've noticed that the genetics aren't perfectly accurate. Not hating or being nit-picky, but this does mean that some possibilities are here that aren't actually possible, let me show ya'll :D Soooooo Tobiano, Sabino, and Roan are all found on the same locus, which means a TT/Sbsb horse isn't possible, as a locus has space for 2 alleles. Same with RnRn+any To/Sb marking. And If I remember correctly, Varnish Roan occurs in horses with LpLp/Lplp with no patn genes, like LpLp patn1 patn1 patn2 patn2. So, if I was paying attention(big 'if' right there lol) then a Varnish Roan happy with leopard, blanket, snowcap, etc. isn't possible, but I'm not wholly sure on that. I'll edit with what else I find, though I must say: it is nice having our genes like this to have impossible combos because it makes some gorgeous patterns<3<3 Edited at February 16, 2023 11:27 PM by ._KPH_.

Oh, yes I have noticed. lol I have two horse gene books, and love to learn about other animals and human genes. But I will say this, its a game that doesn't need to be competely accurate, and the combos that aren't fully realistic do make some very pretty horses! I guess it can be a game development opportuniy in the future if Eve wants. :D My biggest pet peeve is the grey/dapple greys aren't realistic. They have white manes and tails on dark dapple horse. In life, the mane and tail (and other black parts on bays, etc.) stay the longest. Essentically, its backwards. I'd love some new art that in that respect!

This game was programmed in 2009 - and trust me, the genetic research and general knowledge about the exact genes, alleles and locii back then have not been this accurate as they are by today. At the end of the day it is a horsegame - with some quite realistic options - a lot more than a lot of other (newer) games on the market ;)

They literally said they like having this so that we can get cool patterns. Yall acting like this is an attack against the game 😭 I personally think its pretty cool learning about this tobi sabi roan thing, I dont know much about genetics but its fun learning about them.

haha ikr and in 2016 the leading study suggested that liver chestnuts were chestnut+sooty, but nope :P I must say though, our current genetics make color breeding so much easier xD btw my boi Drifter actually has a chestnut base coat, heteroygous Sabino(Sbsb), hetero Champagne, I think Pearl(Prlprl[pearl is confusing lol]) and carries PATN2 PATN2 :3 so I think he's actually an Ivory Champagne with sabino covered by white x3
