I just wanted to make a thread of my jumping spiders. I cannot get enough of their tiny adorable faces!!!

They are thought to be the smartest of the arachnids with an intellegence level of a 1 year old human. They are able to problem solve, remember, and mimimic other spider species pray movements on a web in order to make that spider their prey. They do not make webs, they are ambush predators primarily. They do make hammocks to sleep/molt in.

Female -- the purple is called chelicrae and it's thought to help them see each other from a distance. Males have green or blue mouths, females tend to have feminine colored mouths, but can have green as well. I mainly keep Reglas because they are great beginner spiders.

They are called "web puppies" you can see why!!!


This is a male. Male regals are always black and white. This was Willard, my first spider and I loved him to death. He had the biggest personality

These are the kind of houses I make for them. I love miniature things and getting the jumping spiders gives me a great outlet for making dollhouses for spiders!

What do pet spiders eat?

Their faces are just soooo cute!! And believe it or not they do have a lot of personality! I should add to my original post, they are thought to be the smartest of all acrachnids with an intellegence level similar to a 1 year old human! I feed mine xs-s meal worms because they are very safe - highly unlikely to injur or kill the spider. They will also eat crickets, flies, bean bettles easily. In the wild they eat about anything, even tiny geckos and each other of course.

This is one of my females with a mealworm. Kind of cool, the clear bubbles are her venmon, she poked this mealworm twice. It's highly unlikely a captive bred jumper will bite a human. I have had hundreds and have not been bit. They also can't break our skin until they are full grown and by then they are naturally more chill/tolerant/used to humans being the source of food. My pet Willard would threaten me if I annoyed him too much - he hated when I made him model my products 🤣


For giggles, this was Willard before he was pissy with me - I was poking him with a paint brush to sit just right for my modeling pictures.

Angry Willard! 🤣 He was a riot, he had so much personality. I still picked him up by hand after this picture and put him in his house, but only after he cooled off, lol.

We have two regal jumpers and one bold, two female one male. Peaches a sub-adult then Kiwi and Mango both still pretty young. I really want to get into making custom enclosures. I have been collecting miniature stuff as well as making things out of clay. I want to make each of them a custom "final home" once they are all large enough

Finally how do you get such good pictures of them?? Do you have a special lens or something? I don't really have any pictures of mine because its so hard with my phone.
