Not my usual, but I just graduated and have been in a funk. I know it's normal but I have no idea what to do from here on. My dad is already nagging me about another job as my first job I only worked Saturdays which was fine for the time being. I've had a previous job before the one on Saturdays and worked a couple of days a week. I just went to see if some place was hiring but to no avail and just got discouraged from trying anywhere else. It's a lot of pressure plus I struggle with an Anxiety Disorder & depression (and possible OCD... still getting diagnosed).
I just messaged my current boss who's offered me more hours within the store and doing other things like cleaning. I'm super anxious and just feel like I'm kind of a failure you know? I just don't really know how to calm down my anxieties about learning something new within the job atmosphere and it takes me a long time to feel comfortable and confident in what I'm doing. At my previous job, I could do everything but the phone and was just fine after a big push. Now at my Saturday (and pending) job I can't even get myself to get on the register. They don't push me due to knowing my nerves and having hired previous younger employees like myself.
I'm just worried I'll do things wrong in whatever I'm doing and I fear getting in trouble & fired which I know is unlikely as I don't do anything wrong, I do everything I'm told to, am punctual & respectful, and can communicate with customers despite my anxiety.
I just don't know what to do, how to get my dad off my back, and how to get over being so anxious like this. (I'm not on meds but am in therapy).
Any older adults (as I'm 18), or other graduates of 2026 here and able to give me some advice? |

Hey <3 Im sending lots of love your way ^^ Hope everything works out 🫶🏻 Im so sorry this is happening to you, and i hope you come over the fear. It's always like that at the start - when you do anything. You just gotta stay yourself and do the best you can 🫶🏻Also, dont think about getting things done wrong, no one is capable of doing everything right, and everyone does mistakes. You learn off mistakes (mostly). The more you think about getting things done wrong, and negative things, the worse is gonna get.
