I'm pretty sure all these books are like adult books and stuff, I prefer the books with animals and such, specifically, Kathryn Lasky and Kathleen Duey.
Each have incredible detail, (I am 16 and prefer the books for ages lower then mine because they tend to have not as much gruesome bits *I love those bits though* but they match my eye better then the adult or teen books and hit closer to my young side, it's closer then my old side.)
I like Lasky more, she has 4 series that I have read.
THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS, BEWARE.
She has two of my favorite books ever, Horses of the Dawn and Wolves of The Beyond.
HOTD (Horses Of the Dawn) is about a horse born on a boat, places in the 15th century I am guessing, brought to find gold in America, then dumped the horses to fend for themselves because they were taking resources and they went off to find grass that the one born on the ship sniffs out. (I'm really trying not to spoil the whole plot.) It's very interesting to me, first off, it's horses, second, it's adventure, and third, it bounces on human problems in a face of an animal. I love it and I am reading it over currently.
Then there's WOTB (Wolves Of The Beyond), about a wolf raised by a bear and finding peace in himself for not being perfect and being thrown away by law of the wolves, it links to other books she has written, languages from millenniums ago, it's intriguing and I highly recommend it, I'm trying to buy the WOTB so I can read it, it hit close to home because this wolf found it so hard to fit in. I love these a lot.

I love the Horses Of the Dawn series! haven't read WOTB but reading what you said about the book, I want to read it:D

I don't know how many other people like books like Dee Henderson's, but I absolutely love:
Dani Pettrey's Coastal Guardians series
Lynette Eason's Oath of Honor (Blue Honor series)
Natalie Walters's Harbored Secrets series
and Irene Hannon's Against All Odds (Heroes of Quantico) is really good!!!!

Just finished House of Dragons. It was pretty good! It's a series but the first is a decent standalone as well, the dragons are fun and all the characters are very distinct/wonderfully chaotic.

Figured I'd cover the other books I read during October.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik: Was recommended to me by a friend, was a great standalone. Definitely recommend for lovers of witches/warlocks and enemies-to-lovers.

Twisted Pride (+18) by Cora Reilly: Mafia romance. 3rd book in the series. Was decent.

The Seven Husbands of Evenly Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid: I had heard it was a great book from Booktok and it did not disappoint. Definitely recommend.

Credence (+18) by Penelope Douglas: Holy fuck do not read this if your underage or have some sort of inner child left in you. You will feel like you're sinning reading this, but won't stop because its that good. Holy shit. I recommend.

Current Read: If We Were Villains. Good so far.

I was wondering if anyone had any fancy limited editions or collector's editions of any of their favourite books? I'd love to see any pictures (regardless of the book). I don't buy them for myself, because I'm a bit of a book abuser and can never keep books good. Destroyed my first edition of The Cruel Prince lol.

I got the OwlCrate copy of the Scorpio Races with the new cover and special edition dustjacket/signed/came with a gorgeous bookmark. Absolutely 1000% recommend, it is drop dead gorgeous and my only "special" book.

I don't know if they're a special edition or anything, but I have some pretty nice copies of the Misty of Chincoteague books I got when I was small. They have a lot of colored pictures which I've always loved.

Just finished The Diabolic series by SJ Kincaid and I loved it, I think if you enjoyed the hunger games you'll really like it. It had me at the edge of my seat sometimes and if I wasn't the kind of person who looked up spoilers in advance I probably would've been a little shocked at times lmao.

Also read Prince of Shadows by Rachel Caine which is a Romeo and Juliet retelling from the perspective of Benvolio. Very interesting read and very poetic if you're into that. There's a bit of romance between Benvolio and Rosaline, it was cool to see unimportant characters from the play given life in this book.

Read Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. This book got me out of a reading slump and I fell in love with the characters. Great world building, nice magic system and great characters, a really good YA stand-alone!

I did try to read The Young Elites by Marie Lu but after about 100 pages I got the sense that a lot of the characters were going to die (it wasn't foreshadowed or anything, I've just got a 6th sense for fictional death lmao) so I looked it up and decided I didn't feel like putting myself through that. DNF'd.

Almost forgot to mention; I also read the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber and it's sequel Once Upon A Broken Heart. I really enjoyed it, the first book was a little rough because I hated the MC but the rest were enjoyable. Cool characters I guess. It's one of those series that I honestly have zero thoughts about.
