Kern River Estate said: I agree that there is a possiblity of it being tied to company greed, but we have to ask the question, why so many so quickly all at once? I am family frends with people involved with the operation of the Union Pacific Railroad, and trains don't derail this offten this catastrophically.

It's impotant to note many of the accidents were nearby, and involved loads of toxic chemicals which would be the outlying factor here

The FRA statistics show that in 2022 there were 11 train derailments involving hazardous materials... There have been two large hazardous derailments and one large non-hazmat derailments that I know of reported in Febuary alone, which were both handled controversly following the derailment, and one which is still under investigation... I'm not saying trains never derail, and I am not saying they don't spill hazadous chemicals; But from the perspective of an average person who is paying a little attention, the current events of the country and the world are concerning.

For sure, that's why I won't rule out the possibilty of something more going on. I just hope it's not lol * Replying to your post at the end of pg 1 Kern. I didn't realize there was a pg 2 XD Edited at February 28, 2023 01:18 PM by Sweetwater Creek

Why are you so reluctant to beleive there could be something more behind all of this? It's not super far fetched and we all know the govenment is corrupt as fuck. The Old Gods said: Gonna need some sources.

Yes exactly, well said. Kern River Estate said: The Old Gods said: Gonna need some sources.

That's called bias. The news picked up that the train derailment gets them views, so naturally, they're going to talk about what gets them views (see: all the weather balloon stuff being shot down, several of which turned out to be privately owned and not foreign). Owing that there's an average of 1,000 derailments per year, that averages out to being about 3 per day (2.7 if you want to be exacting). Hell, there was apparently several train derailments in my state in the past couple of months. None of them made the news. Location and weather is important. There was one in Nebraska last week which has had heavy amounts of severe winter weather in recent weeks. That ignores the terrible state train tracks are typically in. There's no grand conspiracy. Just poorly maintained infrastructure and CEOs wanting to squeeze out as much money as they can. Sweetwater Creek said: Why are you so reluctant to beleive there could be something more behind all of this? It's not super far fetched and we all know the govenment is corrupt as fuck. Because rail road companies are privately owned, not government ran. That and it honestly reads like conspiracy theories. I'm not going to buy the word of some random person online, especially when there's nothing to back up the statements. Edited at February 28, 2023 01:40 PM by The Old Gods

Yes trains derail a lot but how many spill highly toxic chemicals? How many cause a disaster type event? How many posion water? Just so you get how bad the one in ohio was. * Also "Over the last 10 years, about 10 to 20 derailments each year have involved hazardous material releases, Zarembski said. He described derailments that result in the release of hazardous materials as “extremely rare.” Source(it's towards the bottom) Not concerned about the train derailments in general I know they happen a lot. I am concerned about the ones spilling toxic shit. No matter what's behind everything it's still incredibly worrying for me especially that things happening in the US, whether because of politics or companies, can still affect me in Canada. Even though I'm not in the US I'm not safe, and there's nothing I can do about it.
