"Morning, sunset." He said, recalling the joke from last night. "How did you sleep?" He knew she would be upset. It seemed unfair. Doesn't she know she's the only girl who i've ever wanted to spend the rest of my life with? "Elaine, I had a question." He said, "Would you be my girlfriend. I know it's awkward timing, and if you say no that's fine i suppose."

He waited her response.....anxious........

Elaine was overwhelmed by the presence of Jack along with his abrupt question. She turned on her heel and ran into her room, face red with blush from embarrassment. She was overwhelmed. She locked the door and tried to calm her racing heartbeat.

Jack watched her run and felt as though that spoke for itself. I'm a fucking idiot! Why would she want me?! He sat and ate his food, hoping he could explain later.

After eating breakfast, he went and knocked on Elaine's door. "Elaine? I'm sorry to have startled you. Will you forgive me? I'm also sorry for asking you without knowing your feelings about me. I'll tell you mine. I think you're the most beautiful person on earth, and I love you. I hope we can work this out and be happy. Together." I love you. He thought. But if she doesn't want me, i'll suck it up. He walked back to his room after leaving a note that said,

Elaine broke down in tears. He just loves me for my fame, he does love me for who I am. Heck, he doesn't even know who I am, who I truly am. I don't even know who he is even. She noticed a note slipped under the door. With a sniffle, she took it and read it. She would, she just needed time. She didn't want to talk right now. She curled up in a ball, crying herself to sleep.

He walked back over to her door, "Elaine? Are you all right in there? I'm going for a ride soon, and I was hoping you'd join me? I'm sorry about last night." And he walked away. Jack went back into his room and grabbed a halter, walked to the barn, and started grooming Treasure. He told his horse about Elaine, "She's a goddess, but she doesn't want me for some reason."

Elaine woke up a bit later. When he suggested a ride she sighed. A ride did sound good actually. She wasn't ready to talk to him quite yet but a ride would be nice. She got dressed washed her face and went out to the stables.

He saw her walking down the barn aisle, and looked away, hoping she didn't hate him. "Afternoon, Elaine. Are you joinging me today for my trail ride?"
