As the title states, a Wild Horse Roleplay! . . Threads . . Rules . -No stealing mares all the time have some respect between herds. -Always confirm in Discussion about stealing a mare or any deaths and make sure both parties are okay with it. -Only stealing one or two at a time depending on the size of the herd (small herd of under 3 mares then only one) and again make sure both parties are okay with it!. -Only Bachelors can defeat a lead stallion for his entire herd and taking his position but it is allowed for mares to decide if they'll follow the old stallion or not, Please make sure everyone is okay with it. -No excessive drama! if there was just a dramatic event please make sure everyone settles and accepts another dramatic event happening because too much drama can make people lose motivation to continue the roleplay. -Follow HEE Rules As Well. -With courting/breeding mares keep it PG no details just say and skip it -There will be foaling seasons! -If a foals mother dies then so does the foal, realism that a foal cannot live without its dam unless it is at least a year old and can fend for itself. -I won't do Lead Mares, in the Roleplay you guys can work out the hierachy as it goes on by who is more dominant. -Nobody is perfect or invincible so play fair! -Dont be completely hopeless otherwise how did your character survive this far! -Don't kill off another character without both parties being okay with it and confirming it in the Discussion thread. -Posts should be minimum of two per week to keep the roleplay running and over 250 words. . . The cool rain falling onto the ground would be welcomed by Bracken later in the year, rain meant grass and grass meant enough energy to sustain the stallion and his small herd. He was a young stallion though, and right now, rain only meant one thing, mud that was just slippery enough that he couldn't canter or gallop without fear of slipping over.
Knowing that there was another herd nearby, Bracken raised his head to scan the area, his nose flaring to take in the scent of other horses. Once upon a time he'd have gone charging over to try and win a mare or two, now, though, he wanted to push his mares far away from the other herd to ensure he actually had a band to protect. Pinning his ears, the blue roan swung around and landed a nip on an older mares rump, earning a squeal and a missed-kick from her as he began to drive the group into a copse of trees, sheltering from the misting-rain that had been irritating his hide, every droplet felt like a fly landing on him.
Silently, Bracken congratulated himself as he saw the new shoots of grass were beginning to appear in the dappled sunlight. Enough to keep the herd busy for a few hours at least, he hoped the rain would abate eventually and that they could move further from the other herd; being a relatively new band stallion, he was over-cautious, wanting to keep his mares for as long as possible. His tail lashed a little, an automatic response to the droplets as they landed against him. Once he was certain the mares were safely tucked away in the copse of trees, Bracken wandered just a little way away from his band, dropping his head to graze at the grass on the edges of the sheltering so he could keep an eye out for any danger.

(What area in Australia does this take place? A national park?) Gunnya | Lead Stallion | Band A | M: Cinder, Navi, a few NPCs - Steam rose from the large stallions back, curling and lingering in the morning air, misty rain churning and moving with the stallions hot aura. Gunnya lifted his head, his eyes wide and rolling. His wild hooves tearing up the ground underneath him. The stallions glorious wild mane, knotted and burr-filled, flung proudly in the new golden light of home. Australia. The Red stallion turned on his haunches, his legs swinging through the air and a lively energy passing through him. It was the start of Djilba, the first spring. He looked at his steady band of mares, a friendly bay, a grulla, a black and another bay with blue eyes. Gunnya let out a small greeting to his ladies, a wave of obsessiveness crashing over him. In turn, Gunnya lifted his head to each female, nose to nose. The stallion started at the one black in his small herd, Moura. She was plain black, but had good shoulders and well-placed hooves, straight. Moura nickered softly and blinked at Gunnya with watery eyes before returning to eat at the grass that adorned the large plain. Gunnya walked towards one of the bay mares in his group, Cinder, a beautiful shaped mare, a little fleshy, but nothing that Gunnya had a problem with. Gunnya nickered to the mare, encouraging her to come closer, he remembered last foaling season that they had a foal, born deathly still. Hopefully next foaling season will be better. Gunnya stretched his strong neck, his nose meeting with a Grulla, exchanging breaths. Navi stood in front of his, thicker then the rest of the mares in his herd, and still young. Gunnya rubbed his head, his head meeting with Navis shoulder in a affectionate greeting. Gunnya turned away from the Grulla and towards his last but not least mare, the bay with strange blue eyes. The bay mare stepped toward, his eyes clashing with Gunnya's. Banjo was her name, out of his small band of four horses, she was the only one who had given him a foal so far, a now two year old colt, who's probably off in a small bachelor herd somewhere. Gunnya nuzzled her, excited for the new breeding season that was creeping on them. But with new foals came challenge, and new stallions eager to gain more mares, but also colts that had their hormones in a twist, eager for a fight.

(National Park works :))(Don't see very many people tho) Arika | Mare | 3 | Palomino w/White Face & Socks | M; Bracken . The light mist of rain falling upon the small herd had everyone not exactly in their best mood, the rain made for itchy wet coats and mud covered legs which Arika herself was experiencing. Her white legs were covered in dark wet soil from moving around to graze and stay out of the older herd members way. Settling in a spot she lowered her head to pick at some shoots off grass but she quickly spotted the lead stallion driving the herd, watching as he nipped an older mare from the herd she was quick on her feet to follow. . The Palomino mare made her way under the trees and was relieved the water wasnt spraying on her coat anymore, thankful she stood under one of the large trees as it shaded her from the misty weather. Turning her head to her side she used her teeth to scratch at herself to relieve the itching, Arika couldnt wait for the rain to cease. Turning her head with her ears toward Arika observed Bracken, he'd only recently taken of their small band and he seemed very cautious so she wondered how well he'd do when the stressed of foaling season rolled around it wasnt far off. . Taking her mind off the thought of the upcoming foaling season the palomino mare made use of the grass shoots beneath them, lowering her head she used her teeth to rip them up and into her mouth. Stepping around while she nibbled at the shoots of grass her ears staying alert to any change in her surroundings, she hadn't really gotten to know the new band stallion yet so she didnt know whether to trust him or not yet. Lifting her head slightly to gaze at him once more she debated interacting with him . . Cinder | Mare | 5 | Bay w/Forehead Star | M; Gunnya, Other band members. . As the rain sprinkle down onto the bay mares coat she stomped one of her back legs as a bug tried crawling up away from the soaked ground, her long tail whipped at her sides as she was a victim to some mosquitos that were lingering around in the early morning. Shaking off it didnt help that her mane was wet so it wasnt as affective in repelling the pests when it clung to her body. Taken out of her thoughts by a familiar call, her ears perking forward she turned her head to view the red stallion. Her nostrils flaring slightly as she responded with a nicker, stepping closer she had a brief nose touch exchange before he checked on the other band mares. . Watching the lead stallion pass by Cinder lowered her head to try and graze instead, her flank twitched every once in a while to shoo away the bugs. The morning air certainly had a bite to it especially teamed up with the rain which would hopefully start to ease off soon, Cinder didnt mind water too much infact she loved it in the summer but during cooler days she'd prefer the warm sun beaming down on her bay coat. Looking over at the other mares and Gunnya she was thinking about approaching one for some mutual grooming, the weather had her coat itchy and some of the places like her back she couldn't reach herself.

Bracken | Band B | Stallion | Mares: Arika, (NPCs): Sweetstep (Chesnut mare), Casuarina (Bay mare), Killara (grey yearling filly) Bracken was still cautious with his mares, still trying to establish his role as their new lead stallion. He'd had had band for a few months now and some of the foals on the ground this season would be his but he still didn't really feel like he knew his band that well. Since the morning was quiet and he had driven his band away from other potential threats to his reign, he decided to head back into the little copse of trees, his nostrils flaring as he glanced around. There was the older, big chestnut mare known as 'Sweetstep', the one he had nipped at earlier to drive the band, but she was currently interacting with the yearling filly of hers from the last band stallion.
Then there was the younger mare, the one he worried about the most, her coat shined like the sun and could easily be spotted by humans and other stallions alike, a prize if there ever was one. She was the youngest mare of his band, not including the yearlings and babies, she seemed less established compared to Sweetstep or Casuarina, a five year old bay, and so he decided to interact with her.
He arched his neck and pranced a little on the spot as he approached Arika, his ears pricked forward and his head lowered as he approached her, stopping two feet away from her and reaching out his head tentatively towards her, wanting to interact and perhaps groom her a little, the mud clung to her coat, especially her lower legs and belly. If nothing else, he thought it best to cultivate the relationship with his mares ahead of the foaling season, if he wanted to keep everyone safe then the mares should feel that they were safe around him, as were their foals... at least one of them would be his foal, if not both from the mares that were currently pregnant. The thought had the stallion standing a little straighter and surveying the area they were in as he realised his foal, or foals, would be on the ground thanks to these mares. Another wave of nervousness and protectiveness flooded through him.

Gunnya | Lead stallion | Band A | M: Cinder, NPCs - Gunnya tensed and untended, he was nervous, but very excited at the same time. Breeding season was coming. But with it, more threats. Like man. Gunnya's ears pricked, his tail high and his back straight, his form proud. The lead stallion carefully watched the snow gums that surrounded them, his tail flicking with unease. They were far to exposed here, but the grass was good here. Gunnya grunted before swinging around, his muscles rippling as he did. They could stay here for a little longer, as it wasn't there territory but another unknown stallions. And although he was strong and wise with the comings of fights between stallions, he was not in the mood. He was not filled with that inner anger at the moment. Gunnya turned to the four mares in his herd, his head high but his eyes were kind. "Eat up, we will be off soon, to find land of our own" he said, his tail flicking and the sound of the kookaburras and gang-gangs surrounded them. Something was stirring them up, but what? "Stay here" Gunnya turned to the oldest mare in his herd, Cinder, "If it's a stallion, I want you to take them into the trees" he trusted her dearly, as she was probably the smartest of his mares. Gunnya turned away from the mares, his head lowered and sniffing cautiously at the ground, the smell of the stallion whose these grounds belonged to filled his nose. Gunnya snorted and lifted his head, if it was a stallion out there, waiting to challenge him for the land, then they were done for. Gunnya was at disadvantage for being in lower ground, the strange thing at higher ground, plus the rain making it's harder to climb any slope. Gunnya took off, his powerful hind powering him, his sharp hooves cutting into the wet grass beneath him. His head lowered as he made his way up the slope, his side wet from rain mixed with some nervous sweat. The lead stallion roared a challenge, echoing off the trees, Gang-gangs screeched, a lone dingo howled, but there was no reply from th mystery something. Gunnya grunted, still nervous, he just handed out a challenge to anything that could be in these trees, thankfully they are just bush creatures. But Gunnya was still nervous of the fact that he could have just given their location to this particular stallion.

________ Midnight | Band B The blue roan mare grazed as the dropplets fell on her pelt, at first she was unfazed by it, but soon enough the grass grew soggy and Midnight's back was wet through to her skin, the mare pawed the ground and snorted in frustration, tossing her head and trotting away from the others. When she looked back she saw the new-ish Band Leader, Bracken, nipping a older mare and moving the herd into the lighter forest area, wanting to avoid being nipped Midnight quickly trotted back to the main herd, head tossing as they went under the trees, a content whinnie escaping her lips when the light shower could no longer touch her. She looked at the lead stallion as he grazed a little further away from the herd. Breeding season was fast approaching and Midnight hadn't decided yet whether she'd allow Bracken to mate with her, she was still getting to know him as their Band Leader, though she knew they'd have a Blue Roan foal since he was also Blue Roan. Midnight stopped eyeing him and used her teeth to scratch Arika's back contently _________ Amira | Band A (New Arrival to the herd) The Mahogany Bay Pinto mare cantered lightly through the afternoon sun, after her old Band was taken over by a Bachelor stallion Amira left. She had been on her own for a week now, not eating enough to constantly stay on high alert. Amira had reached a long stretch of grassy fields and ventured out into it, she slowed to a stop once she came over the hill to see a herd grazing there, she quickly spotted the Band's stallion and froxe, not sure what she should do, she stared at Gunnya for a few moments before scanning the Band mares, they looked friendly enough, Amira softly nickered to the herd to get their attention, shifting her weight evenly not taking her eyes off them Edited at August 26, 2024 07:30 PM by Hyrule_Stables

Arika | Mare | 3 | Palomino w/White Face & Socks | M; Bracken. . The young mare observed as the stallion approached getting closer to her, unsure she did a quick peek around for an exit if need be but stood her ground. She moved on of her legs as if bracing to move away but she watched as his hooves stopped still a few feet away. As he reached his head over to her she found a small amount of confidence and extended her neck slightly to touch noses with the stallion, you could see Arika was nervous about the interaction. As her heart raced she quickly pulled back with a squeal and her ears back, she wanted to get to know him but it wouldnt be a fast process. . After a few moment the mare did cave a bit and tried interacting with Bracken again, she still seemed unsure with her stance but she moved to his shoulder and took in his scent lipping slightly at him. Her ear closest to him stayed in his direction listening out for any sudden change in his intentions, the mare hadn't fought a day in her life so if it came to her best bet was fleeing from the situation and hoping they lost interest. The weather was gradually easing off with the early morning, the dark rainy clouds turning into light clouds only covering half of the sky so the sun was actually peeping through the once gloomy skies. Arika was glad so she could finally dry her coat and not be stepping around in mud all week. . . Cinder | Mare | 5 | Bay w/Forehead Star | M; Gunnya, Other band members, Amira. . Turning her attention to Gunnya she listened to his words, the band would be moving sometime soon it seemed. She'd been in Gunnya's band for a couple years now, and she trusted his word if it wasnt safe then it wasn't safe. The bay mare's black tail swished behind her as the sun began to peek through the once gloomy sky, walking through the brush she found a spot where the sun shone the most on her coat relishing the warm feeling it brang. Turning her attention when she heard Gunnya speak she looked concerned, 'another stallion?'. The mare stood anxiously but she was doing to do her best to protect the herd while he wasnt present, watching as he powered across the muddy land. . Her head shooting up and her ears perked as she heard her lead stallions call, she resisted the urge to call back to him not wanting to reveal the vulnerable band to any other stallions. The Bay Mared paced around the herd as a lead stallion would, her coat finally not so soaked as the weather changed. Anxiety coursed through the mare as she knew she couldnt fend anything off from the herd in her state, she had muscle but it wouldnt be enough their best bet was trying to flee and hope their lead came back in time. . The sound of movement and an unfamiliar scent on the breeze caught Cinders attention, turning her ears caught the new mares nicker. Her ears flicked back unsure of how she'd handle this new situation with no lead stallion present, she wicker back with a stiff unsure stance her eyes never leaving the mares form. Thistle | mare | 4 | red roan with a white snip | Band A | Thistle's withers twitched in annoyance at the rain trickling down her neck as she lowered her head to graze. Her teeth sinking into the nutritious roots of the fine grass somewhat made up for it...and in the end rain was a good sign. The worst thing out here were the droughts, she was well aware of that as she'd fought to live through one when she was younger. It did her well to remember that time when she felt the cold of the rain sinking into her muscles. Not so bad after all . She snorted when a small bug hopped up and landed on her nose, blowing it away and pulling her head up away from it. Her tail lashed from one side to the other, sending a spray of droplets in both directions as she took off towards Cinder. Gunnya was gone...she could smell the nerves hanging in the air towards the direction he had run "where's he gone?" Thistle asked, falling in line close to the bay mare. The unease that clung to them like the sheets of rain had made her shift her weight back and forth, ears pulling back and flicking as the tension built up. The unfamiliar call made her head raise. Ears forward...she had no control over what would be done. Cinder seemed wound tight. In all fairness Gunnya wasn't here and strangers could mean another herd nearby, she attempted to be a comforting presence, blowing air loosely through her mouth and letting her head drop . Strange mares weren't usually a threat by themselves and this one..upon closer inspection...looked rather thin. Would it do any harm to welcome her to this patch of ground? Other than the possibility of endangering her. Gunnya had some thoughts on this spot not being the most secure and he wanted to move on soon. Thistle shook out her mane and turned her body in another direction to scan for movement in the brush near the stranger. The distant call of a dingo made her twitch. There weren't any foals present though so one by itself wasn't enough to take up more of her attention. Edited at August 26, 2024 02:26 PM by Parakeet Fields
