Get a new one. I've gone through three air fryers in about 9 years. They are great things. My first one got stolen by an ex, the 2nd one went out in a blaze of glory, and the 3rd one is still going strong as is the back up one.

Sounds like there are some fun stories there!

Oh yeah. Story 1: Ex-bf took back the air fryer his mother gave him, that he gave to me. He can't cook worth a darn, so he gave it to me. When we broke up, he's way of thinking well my mother gave it to me, so I should take it back. He waited until I was at work before coming over and taking it. Ironically that was the only thing he took. He didn't take his clothing, and he called me about a month later when he realized he left some his more expensive jackets and other clothing at my place, so I said give me the air fryer back and you can have your 500$ leather jacket, and other things back. He said nope, but I want my jacket back too. Had he been civil and come over when I was home to get his stuff he left at my place I would have given it to him (the air fryer and his clothing). Told him had he been civil and not a sneaky bastard the answer is nope since it was at my place for over 30 days by that point all the stuff he left was considered abandoned property. I sold it all on E-bay for 3500$. LOL Story 2: The blaze of glory. My nephew knows not to touch my good kitchen equipment unless he's asked to help. Needless to say with this case he was honestly trying to help. He pulled out the tray to put the marinated meat in. We were doing the wings in the air fryer. Well he grabbed the wrong meat that I wanted to put in the air fryer. We had preheated it, and he grabbed one of the heavily marinated in Itallion dressing steaks. Well it caught on fire when the oil hit the tray. He thought putting the tray back into the slot would deprive it of oxygen. Nope, and the flames caught the rest of it on fire. That was fun. I put it out pretty quick, but after that I never trusted that air fryer, and dismantled it completely so no one would really be able to salvage it for parts, since I wasn't 100% sure why it got hotter than it should have, since I cooked marinated steaks, and filets wrapped in bacon numerous times with no problems before. Also it was cleaned after every use to be safe so no oil residue was left in or on it before it was used again. Story 3: Is a small little single item serving round thing by Fiberware, that a friend of mine got me for Christmas one year. It's a nice little air fryer. It's still going strong, although I do need to clean it again. My newest air fryer is a dual basket (side by side) Ninja air fryer. It's going strong as well. My roommate loves it when I use the air fryer to make the veggies she likes on one side and the veggies I like on the other. Unless its potatoes then we argue on who gets how much of them lol.
