I just got luck and unlucky at the same time. I had a shield and all the hostile mobs spawn in like 15 block radius of a cave I lit up and somewhat blocked off. xD about 15 zombies 1 skeleton and 1 creeper.

I used a skeleton to take out one of the baby zombies. I have used creepers to blow over 5 zombies at once on my hardcore world.
