I realize this post is a little old now but I just wanted to add, just because a horse has a visibly darker stripe down its spine doesn't mean its a dorsal stripe indicating dun. A lot of horses I have known had a visibledark stripe, including my chestnut morgan mare, who had a pretty pronounced one, but was definitely not dun.
That horse looks like a buckskin, pretty conclusive given the parents colors. Buckskin happens to be one of my favorite horse colors :) |

Thanks you! I don't really know what she is I'm probably going to shave her back and see if it's in her skin or not and will let y'all know if she has a dorsal on her skin that means dun right? |

As people have already said here, dorsal stripes do not mean the horse is dun. Non dun horses can have dorsal stripes caused by countershading. I am highly skeptical of her being dun as she does not show any leg barring, face cobwebbing or dark mask, pale ear tips, or shoulder barring. Also, her dorsal stripe is very light and does not continue into her tail. She does show what appear to be some guard hairs but that alone does not say dun to me.
Even though I think it is super unlikely she is dunskin (she is definitely at least cream on a bay base though, so buckskin), from the pictures in the video, the dam looks like she could be red dun, although the picture was definitely not detailed enough to tell. The sire's photo did not show enough detail from the right angle to tell if he is or isn't dun but there's no reason he couldn't be. So it's possible one or both of her parents are dun, or neither. Anyway, I say buckskin. She doesn't show any of the dun markings you would be looking for in a dunskin horse. |
