Tomorrow I'll see Willow again. It will be another spa day for her, working on growing out that mane and tail so gotta keep it clean and braided. I'm hoping to load into the trailer again and maybe work on some in hand items like bridges, fences, cone weaving, and side stepping. I mainly have plans to just save my money up and when she turns two I'll send her off to a ranch nearby to have 60-90 days under saddle that will also expose her to cattle/trails/reining/working before coming back home and starting on Western Pleasure/Ranch/SMS/Trail. She's bred for Western Pleasure, but honestly I don't think she will make it because of myself. I can't afford the $$$$$ for fancy outfits or saddles and I'd need that to ever be competitive in the WP ring. But Ranch, Trail and Reining aren't as fancy and I can swing it! IDK, I've just been thinking on that a lot recently. I want to set her up for success. I know her movement alone would place her well, but I'll hold her back there.

Just got word from my trainer that she is willing to show Willow once things have cleared up around here (BIG Covid area we are in, so the barn agreed to not show until things are much better) which is a big weight off my shoulders for getting her show experience and points!

Willow had a nice spa day after working in-hand trail a bit! Nothing major today, just enjoying each others company.

Well, Willow now does anything half way 😫 All in one go she got Conjuctivitis, Scratched both corneas and developed ulcers in both eyes, was fractured her right rear hock and developed OCD in the right rear hock. So definitely no showing any time soon! She actually needs to stay on stall rest for a good chunk of time, have her hock re-checked in two weeks so see if the fracture has healed any and see how bad the OCD is. As is, if it does heal decently then we wont start under saddle to late 2yr old or early 3yr old. If it doesn't then she will never be broke under saddle or shown as I don't want to cause more problems later down the road. That's been our few weeks. At least the eye problems have pretty much cleared up in the weeks time and swelling has greatly gone down around her hock and she no longer favors it as much or limps. Still just hand walking until vet advices otherwise! Edited at August 24, 2020 05:02 PM by SDK Ranch

Here's hoping, thank you! Diamond C Ranch said: Awwwe poor Willow. How did she fracture her hock?
We aren't entirely sure, but kids have been flying drones insanely low to the ground in the pastures late at night which is when she was turned out. Now everyone stays in at night and has to be lathered up in sunscreen/UV sheets to avoid sunburn since people are so cruel as to mess with the horses like this. We've had horses injure themselves before because of the drones so that's our best guess as we had the night turn out crew run down a fence a few days before she really swelled and started limping.
