Emerald- I only ride her very occasionally, usually when there are no lessons, her usual riders are gone (such as thanksgiving and Christmas Eve), or she needs to be schooled. My rides on her are nothing like her normal lessons, and I do always continue on with my ride when she acts up. My rides on her will not be her "new normal", as I only ride her once every few months :)

I've once had this problem with a arabian horse a lot like her. . . I was just turning her and she bolted and kicked at the barn door. There was nothing out there, or in the arena.( It's an indoor arena with stalls inside) Do you ever let her know that she is doing it wrong? Also, I sometimes feel as if they do it and just laught at you. And, like you said, she is perfect for your sister, that was also an unsolved problem at our barn. Has anything that anyone's said helped?

Without consistency, its hard to implement any meaningful behavioral changes. You can be doing all the right things (which you proabably are), but if they aren't being done every single ride then the horse will quickly fall back into bad habits. If you only ride her every few months then the best you can do is to manage the behvior rather than really change it in the long run.
