I have only ever ridden English and I am planning to ride someone else's horse who has a stock saddle fitted to her. How different is it to riding in my dressage saddle?
is there anything I should know?

I've ridden in one once! They are pretty similar to riding in a dressage saddle by means of how it makes you sit. Don't be nervous!

Don't be nervous :) I've found them much more comfortable to ride in and they have a similar feel to a dressage saddle. Like Montova said, they are similar to how they make you sit

I think my western saddle is way more comfortable than my English. If you feel unsteady, you can always grab the saddle horn. I like how the stirrup leathers are wider. It feels more heavy and relaxed to me. Now, I can cut cattle in my english saddle, but I feel more secure when it comes to speed events if I'm using one of my western saddles. Just make sure there is padding on the seat. One of my saddles does not have any padding, and though it fits me well, I can't ride in it for 5 hours and survive.

If you can be balanced and comfy in a dressage saddle then you should do just fine in a stock saddle! Most people think that western saddles are easier to ride in/more comfortable anyway.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel
