does anyone have any reccomendations for boarder/renter safe options for slow feeding ideas for horses?? love hay nets but my colt chews on ropes that get into his stall so i need a good brand to look into for nylon thick web ones however my mustang gelding throws the hay bag around and often rips them at the seams any thoughts? i genuinely want their hay to last them a while but i feel like my gelding just finds ways to eat it all at once and wont take his time with it. (shoves his nose through the corners of the hay nets or the best one....learned to undo the velcro and just eat out of it like a bucket) i wanted to try those roller hay balls that they can interact and play with but i see them being a safety concern with them getting their feet in the holes(my horses paw at toys) especially the yearling colt. i want something that can fit a good ammount of hay and i cant drill holes in the stall so need something boarder friendly that wont cost me thousands any ideas?
I use hay chix nets. I also put mine in a 150 gallon water trough, tied down inside. So they eat it slow without pulling it out and ruining it. They both get around 25 lbs of hay a day, free choice and it lasts nearly 24 hours
I recommend hay balls. Cause you can hang them aswell as let it roll around. Also can be used for grain and for horses that get board very easy. (You can find "bigger" hay balls)

I highly recommend the Ultra Slow Feeder hay net from Chick's Saddlery. You can get them online and 2 flakes of hay last roughly 9.5-10 hours. I also agree with Bioshock Manor that putting them in an empty water trough helps eliminate waste and will keep your gelding from throwing the hay net around.
