So I recently bought this gorgeous TB mare shes 4 years old OTTB. I was riding her for my boss and she was going to be sold as a failed race horse so I bought her cheap and have being riding her all of a sudden when I went to put her bit in yesterday her teeth where cracked and her gums where bleeding! I was confused so I rang the vet straight away and they said she had had someone pulling to hard on her mouth but there is only me riding her?? She also has a habit of being to pushy and tends to bite as well!! I need suggestions on how to fix her habits :/ thanks ❤️

I'd say could have been a previous rider and could be a reason for her being sold so cheaply. Her biting problem probably has something to do with the pain her mouths in,I mean we all get snappy when something hurts. She could have been biting something say cribbing if she was bored or something like that for her mouth to be bloody and teeth cracked.Could also be a bit problem as perhaps she needs a softer bit?Id consult your vet (obviously) and perhaps try a new softer bit than she has if you can. And with the pushy, she's still quite young and is also female so that's how they are some times.Just need to make her understand your in charge and you say what goes, this may also help with the biting problem too! Hope this helps,if you need anything else feel free to pm!Good luck!

Thanks that might work at the moment shes being a brat still....went to the barn today and she was in her paddock with her rug on (it was raining last night) so i brought her in she was a little pushy but soon worked out I was in charge and stopped pushing for the time i brought her in......i put her in her stable and she started throwing her head around i looked at her and laughed then went to feed her yeah all that lol then i tacked her up and my mum was with me and Lily was so they both suggested trying a softer bit..still she didnt like it she threw her head up and reared so i decided to try riding her with a head collar and lead rope to see how she liked bit-less she LOVES it. So ive sorted that problem out still got to sort her naughty biting and pushy but yeah she is quite young still. And she was never raced just like trained and had a little race against another young horse but that was it and she didnt win so they classed her as a failed racing horse and she was sold on to me lol
