I need hay net/bag Recommendations please. February 17, 2021 10:25 AM

Hi, so I normally just throw my horses hay on the ground in the stalls (They have rubber mats under the pelleted shavings) but recently I had a horse get injured and the vet said I had to put a hay net/bag for him to eat out of so he didn't have to stretch to eat off the ground. Anyway I noticed that he kept his stall cleaner and there was less hay waste (I feed brome / prairie / alfalfa). So my question is does anyone have any recommendations on sturdy quality hay net/bag that will hold up to every day use and are easy to fill. (I feed between 2 to 4 flakes 4x a day) I have herd that the "Kensington slow feed 4 flake hay bag" is good but they seem expensive (Chespest I found was $74.99 USD wo/shipping). My budget is around $50 USD per hay net/bag although I may spend alittle more for a nice quality hay net/bag.
I would need around 20+ hay nets/bags so if you know of a place that sells in bulk or have a bulk price that would be great.
Thanks

Also, regular haynets are fine and durable as long as they're nylon, not cotton. However with the nylon, tie them up with a bit of haytwine so that it breaks in case the horse gets caught in the net somehow.

This is the one I have. I like how it does not have any of the mesh netting so I don't have to worry about my horse eating it or getting entangled.

I like the classic nylon nets. My stallion is an insanely destructive eater. He mostly gets round bales, but he likes to spend those things like crazy. If you give him an intact square bale under his roof, he scatters in everywhere, but picks it up overnight. The last time he didn't have a round bale and had to have square hay every day, I pulled a nylon net out of the tack room for him. That hay net had sat in the tack room for 15 years and had been used heavily before that. After a month of the big monster ripping his hay out of that net, it was still perfect. It would also easily hold 50lbs of hay at once. Those nets only cost around $5 to $10 at tractor supply and can be bought on pretty much any horse website. I have close to 10 of those old nets sitting around. They're cheap, easy to use, and hold up amazingly well.

I love this thing! Easy to fill up, adjustable straps. I was using it for trailer rides and everyday hay and it's not had any deterioration at all. Then my barn cat got it really gross, so i've not been using it. XD

SmartPak Slow feed haybags work really well! Very durable, they have held up for my barn's three y/o ottb who likes to pull it off the clip (which is all to do with the clip, and nothing to do with the haybag- its very sturdy). They come in two flake or four flake sizes. Only about $35 as well

I really like these hay nets, they are super easy to fill, hold a lot of hay, and makes your horse eat it slowly. The only thing is that you need a carabiner clip to put it up easily.
