moon yes! for example, crab apples are poisonous, and dont give horses carrot slices, but whole carrots are ok. i need to have more experience for whether or not the hay is good quality. do you think a good rule of thumb is, "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is"? HLS donkeys: would you suggest jennys or jacks? i know jacks can get very aggressive, and mate like nobodys business. not sure if i want that to happen to my horses. Goats: very true. what do you think a good number of goats would be? (to start)

Minies can't reach even if the horse is laying down. My friend has a male mini donkey and the horses just chase him away. If you don't want a mean Jack you could always find someone with a jack to mate your jennies. Just an idea. .. Goats I would start with about 2-4. One billy and 3 females. The usally have two kids each so then that would make 10 goats.

aww minnies XD . yes, i mean, ive read about jacks who are "super nice" and then kick someone in the face. and then i accidentally fell across a video of a jack mating with a horse, and then te same one mating with a pig. it was...WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME YOUTUBE. anyways, i read some more about jacks, and they said that they mate a lot. so i wasnt sure if i wanted that responsibility, especially if i get a male horse whos protective of the mares. . goats: sounds good! what are your favorite breeds of goat?

Russian White goat or the peacock goat. The peacock goat is a smaller goat I think.

HLS Mustang Ranch said: You might want to think about miniture donkies. They take care of themselves easily and they don't eat everything is sight. They will eat thistles and other weeds and mainly wont affect them. Also good company. They also help keep the peace between bulls XD.
My neighbour had a mini Donkey, and he was hilarious! As long as your ok with him hollering all the time, they are also good companions for pasture horses, but they can pester them a lot.
