But if you breed them Grey you're only adding to the problem of so many other horses, ponies, donkeys ect... winding up in shelters... its no different then people who don't fix their cats or dogs and breed them... for every foal your minis have another horse/foal donkey ect winds up in a shelter somewhere either to be adopted or killed. I mean you no disrespect or anything but before you start breeding think about the fact that by doing so you might be doing more harm then good, not just for the horses you breed but for other horses/ponies ect as well who knows where they could wind up in the end ya know?

Is this the information I was asking for? No. So don't bother with it.
Breeding a horse does not magically make a random one go to a shelter. I am NOT adding to the problem by breeding a horse I'm going to keep. I wouldn't get a rescue mini so nothing is changing by me enjoying myself with happy, healthy, athletic ponies.

You have your opinion and I have mine. That's fine I don't really care/mind if you disagree with me but there was no need to be disrespectful. I just know from what patterns i've seen from just dogs and cats alone and its no different in horses, because of breeders out there so many animals go without homes. Yeah you're gonna keep the horses you breed, but for how long? and if you find yourself in a situation where you can't keep them and have to sell them (which is always a possibility.) How do you know where they're going to end up if that does happen? Thats all i'm saying. However like I said, you have your opinion and I have mine. No it wasn't the information you were looking for but I think its something you and other people should and need to take into consideration.
Have a nice day :)

I give no disrespect. I've heard these opinions before and basically saying its a crime to breed isn't right. I have a mini-loving family if something were to happen and I wouldn't start a breeding operation if I didn't think I'd stick with the horses to the end. Never said it was a crime to breed. Just giving my opinion that the breeders are a big source of the problem... (with horses specifically in this case because unlike you they breed to sell not to keep) I don't think its a "Crime" I just think its irresponsible (to a degree in some cases i'll admit)... especially with so many horses packed into shelters. Yeah, animals are gonna do what they're going to do, but if we can avoid that and try to prevent the problem as much as possible then honestly I would never have this conversation with anyone again. I'm not trying to be rude... but you also don't know what kind of situation you or your family are going to be in money wise in lets say 5 years. You could wind up having to sell all the minis you breed even if you don't want to... and after that? you don't know where they'll go if that were to happen. That's my whole point is you don't know what the future could hold.
Also lol I get that way sometimes too and honestly part of this is me just being brutally honest (get it from my mom lol) based on things i've seen in real life with dogs and cats alone. Also, I'm a lonely sock as well I only have like 2-3 internet friends because my real life friends kind of seem to have given up on me lol

If bred correctly then the foal is a keeper. Be a good breeder and breed the good ones, you get a good foal. Plus, the showing aspect is one source of income so, even if the foal isn't a breeder, they can still be kept. That's what I'd do. I know there are a lot of bad breeders out there.
Why live with the fear of a bad situation? Being prepared for it is never a bad idea, but not doing something that you have the current means for because there's the small possibility that things will change financially.. Nothing would ever be done if we acted on that feeling.
And oh my gosh, that is me xD HEE is my only source of friends. Maybe I should get out into the real world... Nah, lol.

Im not saying live in fear of a bad situation, im just saying it can happen thats all and if it does you have NO idea where the horses could end up.
HEE and twr are mine lol but I do want to get back out there the only reason I really havent is because 2 out of 4 of my (human) family members have had medical issues and I've been helping them out because of one of my family members work schedule (which is why my friends kinda gave up on me) but im glad it happened because at least I know who my real friends are and it wasnt them if it were them they would have been patient and understanding of the fact that this is the way things are for me currently and even when we did talk it was for like 5-10 minutes and then they stopped so whatever I am hoping to find some real life friends eventually in addition to my online ones.

Another tip if you start showing, Star Point horsemanship has AMAZING Videos on how to train them for trail, showmanship, liberty, jumping ETC....i have used them for my mini and I have won MULTIPLIE championships with him all because i followed her videos....And on that note my mini only cost $300 With papers in hand! We are also starting liberty ;)
Just a program to think of :)

I know Neighlani and Tricksters Choice both have minis. Maybe shoot them a PM?
And there is nothing wrong with wanting to become a breeder if you educate yourself and pursue it correctly. The minute someone says they want to breed something, people jump all over them, and it needs to stop. Edited at September 6, 2019 08:14 AM by Stormsong Manor

Unfortunately most horse shows (at least where I am in Aus) don't pay for placing. The only time you would make major money is from stud fees or selling stock. Most shows only give out a ribbon. Breeding Minis probably will work better as a hobby.
Good luck in whatever choice you make.
