Here's the horse the OP is talking about. Apparently, he's only started 5 times... not raced 94 times. Maybe wait until his riding evaluation comes in... if he's only sound for trail riding he's not going to be your next barrel horse.
They told us 94 thank you! :)

Okay, I have never seen such a beautiful horse... Congratulations, my friend!
I would love to have a horse but I can't afford one right now. You are very lucky! Good luck with him! <3

I really don't believe that, sorry.
Mr. President Gray or Roan Colt Foaled February 15,2015 in New York 5 Starts Placed
He was only a late aged 2 yr old when last raced, if he was truly raced 94 times, then he must have been raced into the ground. If this is the case, then he's had a lot of stress on his body. Or, much more likely, he has only raced 5 times.
Also, has your vet seen him in person? X-rays? Sesamoid fractures aren't the end of everything, but they can limit the horse's ability to work.
I don't want to start anything, but it pains me that this horse could possibly be used for something it is not physically able to do. Just because another horse had injured legs and went on to barrel race doesn't indicate anything about this one. If your mom's horse skinned her legs coming out of a trailer, that is nothing like a broken sesamoid.

So he's a gelding but you're calling him a stallion?.....

W.o.w. You got my attention when you said "Secretariat" In my opinion he was the best race horse and still is.

The vet said he might be able to run. I have talked this over with myself. I am not running him i hate to put a horse in that place.
