Alright so... since my trainer is completely MIA I have to turn to my HEE horsey-expert friends for advice. Obviously I don't want to be calling a vet out for EVERY small thing I encounter but if there's ever an emergency then of course I'll be reaching out.
So after our ride today I was messing with Ro's mouth to try and read his tattoo and I noticed this little sore on the inside of his upper lip, towards the left. I checked the bottom and right sides, nothing there.

I'm not sure if his bit may be pinching or rubbing - kinda seems like a spot where it wouldn't reach but I'm not 100% sure. I've recently started working him more on the bit but for most of our ride, he's on a fairly loose rein. I use a snaffle bit.
After doing a little research, I read it could potentially be something he punched on in the pasture. He's out there 24/7 and I've seen foxtails.
Any thoughts?

Yeah, thats a weird spot for the bit to be irritating. It looks like a blister that has burst in that picture. Possibly eating something really rough caused it? Edited at June 22, 2018 01:46 PM by Bristol Farms

It does look like a burst blister. Yeah, there's so many different plant varieties out in his pasture I wouldn't be surprised if he was nibbling on something odd. I'll keep an eye on it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the bit pinching or rubbing somehow.

Looks like something he ate poked him in the lip and maybe got stuck for a day and it blistered.
That's not a spot that would pinch/rub.
Doesn't look like a summer sore either.

Thanks Jello. <3 Glad to know it isn't the bit. I saw it and was immediately terrified I was being too rough on his mouth, even though I'm very soft with him.

Yep, definitely not a bit issue. I agree with Jello here, probably something that poked him and then blistered. Just keep an eye on it for the next few days and try to keep it clean when you can, and it should heal up just fine. ;)

I have to agree with Jello, that it looks like something he ate and it poked him in the lip. I'd keep a close eye on it. Also on the vegitation in the pasture he's in.
