So I'm just kind of making this forum for myself and people around me. I have a little quarter horse pinto and I'm going to be doing some shows with her, I was looking for things that would be suggested to keep her shiny and make sure her skin is in tip top condition. Especially preferred feeds that would be good for her. She's 3 at the moment, and is very very gentle surprisingly, she went from naughty to calm, well to me that is. And is still learning things, like walking amongst my side and why to not eat grass when I'm trying to train her with her snaffle bit.

I fed my mare Blue Seal Sentinel Performance or Blue Seal Sentinel Lifetime. It is excellent feed for working horses. They love it and don't need extra supplements.

Hey! All of my (3) horses coats are the shiniest EVER! I use a mixture of Panteen Conditioner and water (about 3/4 water and 1/4 Panteen in a spray bottle)! It keeps their coats nice and shiny and soft. It also nourishes their hair:) Spray all over the body and brush in. I also highly recommend using it in their manes and tails too:) Comb through until nice and un-tangled. (It works well and a detangler too!)

Also, for the show itself, it is really handy to rub baby powder into their white legs for that extra whiteness, use a healthy amount of show sheen, and baby oil (careful not to put baby oil on horses that are easily sunburnt) around their nose/eyes/face/etc. for some extra shine. I also advise if at all possible to bath 2-3 days in advance and keep them in a clean area and only spot wash the day of. This helps give them a little extra shine that bathing takes out.

My horse properly isn't the shiniest in the world since I am not able to afford supplements, but she does have a nice healthy coat by simple baths and grooming. My favorite tool for baths is the hand's on grooming gloves, it really helps work the shampoo and conditioner into their coat, then back out again. My best suggestion is to definitely have a fly sheet with UV protection to stop her coat from fading in the sun, and make sure to get all the sweat out of her coat after every ride. I love show sheen for that little extra pizazz on show day!

Ha I'm so following this. In 14 years, i still haven't found a way to keep my completely white horse.. ya know, white. He thinks he should be brown and green >.<

Well honestly there's nothing you can do but not let them be horses (bad idea) and keep them clean, or groom/wash it off the best you can.

Not sure about feed, but for a supplement I give my horses Linseed Oil (or Flax) that is especially made for horses. Unlike other Oils my horses donÂ’t mind the taste of it so they eat it without a problem, plus it makes their coats shinier and keeps good wait on them. Between that and the horse grooming products you use, your horse should sparkle like a polished diamond.
