Super proud of my mustang. 11 days out of holding, I was starting to pet her last night. Got her tag off this afternoon. First time she hasn't had anything on her in 2 years (she was rounded up as a 2 year old. shes 4)

What horse tack do you use/buy the most? July 19, 2026 08:51 PM

Hey guys! I have a super cool opportunity to partner with my local tack shop (her shop is where I board my horses) She primarily focuses on selling saddles but she does have a small selection of new tack (headstalls, breast collars, saddle pads, saddle pouches) and she wants me to help her start live used tack sales.
She gets a lot of used tack sent to her when people send their saddles but she normally doesn't sell the used tack other than the saddles in her shop. My question to everyone on here is what tack items do you use/buy the most (english, western, or everyday items) and what used tack items would you personally look for in a live used tack sale? They'd be offered at super low prices. She has me select about 30 items to feature but I want to see from other equestrians what items might do better than others. Feel free to comment things you for sure would NOT want to get from a used tack sale.

Any well kept leather gear! Headstalls, martingales, chest collars, etc. On the would not buy side, probably most saddle pads or other fabric items since they can get nasty to the point no clean can fix it lol.

edit, if you have any messed up headstalls with nice or otherwise intact browbands, i personally love finding cute new ones to put on my bridles!

Yes to bits, rugs and saddle pads (if professionally cleaned and in good shape).

Browbands are a good one. In good shape competition tack. Along with nice traveling/show halters.
